What a Day I have Had..
Today was going so well, sun has been out, been to work in the morning at the pet shop. Start my second job at 1pm and finish at 5pm.
But it went wrong about 4:30 when to people came into my shop, male and female. They both looked really dodgy, so I kept an eye on them. The woman was carrying a large bag and knew then she was up to no good. As I was serving the guy I was trying to keep an my eye on her, but he kept trying to block me so I couldn't see what she was doing. They both left the shop after paying for 2 milky ways and I called out "You've got cans of beer in your bag" She shouted out "No, I haven't" as she was hurrying out of the shop. I chased after them, struggling with her, trying to get the bag. At this point she was sat in the drivers seat and calling out to the guy to get in the car, she called him Kevin. He then came up behind me and tried to pull me off her, that's when I decided I'm not going to hold on any longer. Because you never know what he will do, he might have a knife on him. As they drove away I got their number plate.
But what really got me, as this was happening. There were two young boys in the back seat of the car. They were about 4 and 5 years old.
There was also someone with me in the shop, so I was lucky I wasn't on my own when this was happening.
I then phoned my boss and his wife, to let them know. They were heading to town and had to come back. They phone the police and gave them a description of the couple and the number plate as well. Then they said "Ok, we will get back to you". They didn't come out, take a proper statement or anything. Or even asked me if I was ok, or if I was hurt in anyway.
So that was my day..

Re: What a Day I have Had..
Hope no one got hurt. I would understand if they were trying to help thier kids in a way but stealing beer? thats like a -10000 and setting a bad influence for the kids. all in all, i hope they ( the robbers ) learn how to deal with things other than stealing and you are ok
and btw, you reacted smart in the situation
I dont know if i would of done the same thing

Hehe ... why did I always put you somewhere between 17 and 19?
I thought it would be cool to have 2 jobs at that age ... I mean at my age of 16 , I'd like to work somewhere now ... Just to splash the boredom at summer holydays.
Yeah... pepsi ... I asked Bastet about his age , well ... its good to know you are 15 ^^

wow good job on that, kinda sounds like a desperate family reminded me of the movie 'pursuit of happiness' when will smith ran from the taxi driver because he couldn't pay.

I have two jobs because I couldn't find a full time job. And one of them I have been working well over a year and the other only for a few months.
I look much younger then what I am, some people have said I look young as 18. So I'm flattered about that because when I am in my 40's I will still look 30..

Not true; there's always a chance that you'll overexpose your skin to the sun and get wrinkles and look 60 when you're 40. =)

Yup.
I hardly go out in the sun, and when I do I make sure I'm protected.

That story reminds of of when I read the same story 30 seconds ago.

Crazy shit. They say store clerk/cashier is one of the most dangerous jobs you can have.

Re: What a Day I have Had..
I've worked retail before.
Once, while working nightshift (we stop selling booze at 2:00 AM), a couple kids came up with some beer. When I denied the sale they bolted for the door with the beer in hand. I followed (yeah, jumped over the counter like I was some super hero) and ran around the corner of the parking lot, down a small hill and was about to confront them when the driver jumped out with a knife.
I stopped short.
The police were called and I did have the license plate number but after everything settled down I wondered, "What the hell was I doing?"

Another time, while working at a liquor store in East LA a guy came in with a rifle. He pointed it at me and told me to give him the money. The store owner came out of the back room and caught him by surprise from behind. The owner was like 60 years old but was able to wrestle the rifle (yes, it was loaded) away from the kid.
After the police left I asked my boss if, in the same situation, he would do the same thing. He said, "It's safer if the gun isn't in his hands." I quit that job then and there. Something about risking my life for money that is insured doesn't make sense to me any longer.
Sorry this happened to you, Bastet, but really, I'd rather not see a thread where a family member posts about how you won't be on SRF anymore. Be safe, please.
