Once, I was asked by a co-worker (she was 4 years older than me and a "trophy wife" type - read 'hottie'), "What is it to be a woman?"

The question stopped me when I realized she was serious.
So I thought about it for an instant or two and replied:

Being a woman is being vulnerable. Accepting another person into ones self while accepting the possibility of betrayal would be too much for me.

If there were some way to take the 'me' of who I am and put it into a woman's body I think I'd just cry. Consider how males are used to anger and rage and and how we learn to cope, how we've been trained to deny emotional and to bottle it all up into one explosive outburst (and yes, that's our sex too). Then consider female, the reality of having a vagina and being open 'there' is alien to me, it would be completely unknown. The consequence of trying to make babies while cheating the natural outcome (and my desire to have babies) tied to my sexuality? I'd be one cold bitch, probably.

But it would be more devastating than that. I sincerely doubt that I could ever trust another person enough. So maybe I'd be a dried up ol' hag. A crone. At my age I may have survived breast cancer but would still harbor deep resentment to the doctors who cut them from me. I'd have already recovered from the hysterectomy and would be on hormone therapy to be able to feel like a woman (kinda). Statistically, one of three women are raped at least once in their lives, so maybe I'd be one of the lucky ones (hopefully I would be ugly enough to escape that).

Estrogen vs. Testosterone and Dihydrotestosterone. No clue who I would be in a body of that type, but I know I'd be a mess. I'm enough of a mess as it is. When I chose a doctor I specifically asked for a female doctor. It isn't the normal choice for a man my age but my 'secret' reason is 'finger size'. I want (and have) a slender mature female doctor for good reason (pay attention for when you're older, boys).

The inverse of the question might be easier, "What would a woman be if she found herself suddenly a male?" My thought is that she'd be unprepared for the anger. Mass murderer probably.

But if I were suddenly female? I think I'd just cry. How would I like to be if I were a girl? I'd like to be male. Not 'butch' but just me and I don't think I could fit into a 'girl' body at all. I'd either be lost or uncontained.
