Re: HP or DELL
I got a Dell laptop atm .. the Vostro 1700 .. and can only say *yay*. Does what it's supposed to do .. even Run's VMWare with Ubuntu OS perfectly without slow downs.
HP, don't know much about HP .. but a few college m8's use them and seem to do fine.
Oh quick tip: Never EVER buy a Fujitsu Siemens Laptop. They bloody suck.

HP. I am using a HP computer. I've had it for about 3 years. I love it, it's fast and runs like a pro.

Depends look, you can always get a beige case. Building isnt hard but few of the kid builders can troubleshoot.

lol, ive had bad experiences with toshibas. Not sure if its a very widespread problem but i went through alot of replacement batterys and power supplies on my old toshiba laptop and now my younger sister has it and it wont turn on at all if it has a battery in it. Has to be constantly plugged in.

A couple of my friends had problems with theirs as well. I'm very satisfied with my two HP laptops.

Or you can have no case at all (easier to maintain imo, but its not a good idea if you are clumsy
and sometimes if you can buy parts from direrctly a manufacturer, the total cost can be as little as $70-$120 ..not including acessories.

HP,
for the fact that spare parts, are easyer to get, and cheaper.
Dell has its own sytem sort of things. annoying. Other then that dell's a great brand to.

Altho Alienware look sexy, they are just way too overpriced.
HP/Compaq have great warranty for the first year. Sent in my laptop cause I dropped it and the screen cracked. Sent it in, and it was back with me 2 days later. This was after my dad paid 300$ for the Best Buy coverage but they refused to fix it because it was 'physical' damage.
Ooh, I got a sexy ex-staff title!

As far as HP goes, parts are easier to replace, but dell has better warranties, imo it is just, do you want something from crap pile A, or crap pile B? I would just custom build.

is that from personal experience cause i've had warranties for both and HP's warranties and customer support are alot better, something goes wrong with an HP you know you'll get it fixed, something goes wrong with your Dell and they send you through a 6 ring circus of BS...
