Not if you play chronically, IMO, because you'll get tired and cramps will come sooner if you have to keep moving the mouse all across your HUMONGOUS screen.

computer basics:

-Monitor resolution =/= ingame resolution
-Vista is huge, ram and HD space whether virtual or not used, is HUGE
-My wow, on XP runs smooth on highest graphics, on Vista it lags like fk. And my laptop has very good specs, dont worry, i use it for everything.
-Vista doesnt support a ton of programs.
-Many drivers have not, or will not been written for vista.
-In the gaming community, since that's what youa re all about, Vista is considered a downgrade from XP.

If you want a quick smooth running pc, install XP, leave Vista out of it. Your monitor doesnt matter AT ALL, and with a fresh look at the future, i'd buy a larger one, instead of a 17" or a 19".

ok im getting 4gbs ram os i dont gotta worry bout tht... getting 70gb raptor and 250gb western digital... so space is fine...

and yes... it is a bit of a slow down in games... but u gotta remember, they still working on drivers, and plus vista = dx 10

well i have vista business on my new laptop and every time i do something with my computer or c drive it says windows explorer error and has to shut down then 10 sec later all windows are closed and everything else is back to normal... dunno if its only my computer so thats why i think vista sucks oh and it takes shit load of mem but i dont care since i got 3g

i have a widescreen monitor and a (small) laser mouse.. i havent had to move my hand playing games at ALL, but maybe pivot it every now and then.

Well Vista was build to run the dx10 games fast, it runs dx9 games slower because it emulates them.. Which is why vista sucks + the glitches, bugs and lack of drivers. But i still plan on installing it on a backup drive to test games in dx10

btw. spy you should take care of the response time when buying LCD monitors, dont buy something with 16 ms just because its cheap. Unless your pc lags all the time and it doesnt matter that much.

If it's for gaming remember the larger resolution you run ingame the less FPS you'll get. Can't see a difference of 2" being that big a deal but I'll throw it out there.

I'd get the 19" if it was me.

buy a 22 or something that can display 1600x1200, if you are building a budget pc you should be able to max that resolution np.

I currently have the nvidia gts250 graphics card, and tried running cod2 in lowest reso (19" LCD), my fps dropped to 60 with everything on max. and on highest reso almost 333 fps steady.

some graphics cards cant run games in low reso (for example new ones hd 5000 series and gtx series), and some cards cant run games in high reso(old ones).

and then about the os.. i would take w7, u can get it for free(pm how). and second choice xp, cuz vista sucks.
