Re: Balancing Chemical Equations!!!
H'okay rezz.
I have a chemistry unit test tomorrow and im cramming atm.
Before i ask this question..I WAS NEVER GOOD AT SCIENCE.
Kay..so im doing review questions and theres this question that says
The answer i came up with is
Element Q= Nitrogen (Cation)
Element X= Beryllium (Anion)
But this makes no sense, i've never heard of a compound made of nitrogen+beryllium...HALP.

Element Q is a metal with 2 valence electons, and element X is a non metal with 5 valence electrons. They combine to form an ionic compound. What is its formula?

lolz, chem >.>
yea most is just guess and check for balancing equations, until redox equations

Re: Balancing Chemical Equations!!!
Just take it step by step.
Set it up like this, well this is what always helped me.
__(NH4)3PO4 + __Pb(NO3)4 -> __Pb3(PO4)4 + __NH4NO3
# - N - #
# - H - #
# - P - #
# - O - #
# - PB - #
The left side number is your reactants, than the right side is your products. Than fill it in, than just try to get the numbers to match. It is sort of a long process but it has always worked for me.

Re: Chemistry Help!!!
Beryllium nitride works, as well as Magnesium nitride and Calcium nitride - all salts.
Looks like we have some good organic chemists in here. I have a problem myself:
What mechanisms and reagents should be used in synthesizing phenylacetylene from ethylbenzene? Anyone?
