Question

When you guys make sigs do you plan it beforehand or just jump in and see what happens? I do the latter and get a bad setup, but occasionally I get one worth working on. Like the one I have now: I think I used that render in about 4 different sigs before making one I like.

For those that plan it out: How do you go about planning it?
For those that jump in: hows that working for you?

I just make it up as i go. I never.. plan anything.

How its working for me? Its going okkay. Since i just make it up as i go, most of my sigs take <10mins. And they turn out pretty good.

IO just look at renders and think how to place them, how i do the background after that is just how it comes out, i take alot of time picking renders.

Basically if you know you're way around photoshop, it's pretty easy making the intended output. So I usually visualize the finished product before starting.

It depends on my mood and the piece I'm working on. If it's something the along the lines of LA or something with a large space to work with, yes I do make a few sketches of how I would like it look.

Like BS said usually I have a image already transfixed in my head because I only open Ps if I see a render/stock/someone elses work that put an idea in my head. Even then I find it helpful to sketch it out because sometimes you forget things you wanted to add when you get started.

I just go with it and see how it turns out. Usually not terrible. I dont really know what its going to look like in the end.
I've realized the more I try to imagine it before I do it, the worse it is.

I think of what kind of style I want it to be, placement and stuff but not every little detail.

Well if I look at a render/stock I usually can imagine creating a sig with it. If I can't, I don't use the render/stock.
After I get a render I try to work with what I had in mind, and then just go with the flow and do what looks good. Sometimes I get a total different outcome, but usually it isn't bad.
