Used GIMP. Oh, and the person was talking about opacity in the guide. What does it do, and where can I find it on GIMP.

No clue where you can find it on gimp although I'm guessing it's the same as Ps so try the layer blending options. Opacity in laymans terms basically means the transparency of an object. So in this case I'm pretty sure he was talking about lowering the opacity of a certain layer.

Bit crusty around the edges of the character.
EDIT: The opacity is found on GIMP when you press Ctrl+L
It comes up above the layers and under the mode.

Wow, GIMP. Last person i knew that used GIMP was Draq. Try looking up gimp tutorials on google.
