Made a new sig

Im pretty happy with it, the only thing I dislike is the text >_<

Mm, not much has been done to it considering that I've already seen the original stock. I can see a clipping mask here and another there and some c4d work and agreed about the text. The text is really killing the focal.

I find it kinda hectic, cause there are so many distractions. Concentrate the focus on one point. Try to avoid placing your text away from the focal. I strongly advise that you look at Rizla's tutorial on Basics.

One thing you should aim to do is to keep your viewers guessing, meaning they don't know as to how you created your sig or any art piece for that matter. Once any fellow artist sees through your work, the magic is all gone. Well, at least we're getting somewhere. My only suggestion is to practice more and get inspiration.

For the most part I agree with broken. I like the creativity with the text, but I agree that it's causing more of a distraction and hurting rather then helping your focal. I find it to be more segregated rather then hectic. You have your text, then your focal, then that effect on the right side, seems to be very divided rather then all working together. There's a tutorial on text I have on my laptop i'll PM you the link when I'm home, it should help a great deal. Keep practicing! <3

Can't you ever post positive constructive feedback? Lately I've only seen really negative feedback from you..

Iam not gonna talk circles around someone and tell them what they need to improve on in a paragraph. I would rather just point out what they need to work on in bullet points. Which usually means that my critique is very short and to the point, no sugar coating. When theres something good about the sig, ill say it but ive seen the original stock for that sig and he hasnt done much on it and i dont really like anything else he's done on it so what should i say 12:11? should i make up nice little comments that are completely fake and lie to him? nah, id rather not, if the sig isnt done very well iam not afraid to say so. Iam not gonna sit there and tell him things that i dont think are very important.

When i was first critiqued on my sigs Holla didnt resist to hold back on me either. And ya i whined the first couple of times then i got used to it and I appreciate that he didnt sugar coat his critiques on my sig either or else i would have never known what I needed to work on. If people dont like the way i critique then they can tell me so and I wont critique their work anymore. But i dont feel it is in your responsibility to tell me what i should and shouldnt write.

Well one thing to constructive criticsm is that you at least give them tips as to how they can improve their work instead of just pointing out flaws only. I think that's what 1211 is trying to get at.

I was talking about you in general, not about in that one topic. You've only been posting negative comments lately, that doesn't give you a good position as an artist that's "above" another. If someone keeps on making bad sigs and doesn't react to good positive constructive feedback then I see no reason to hold back, but you've just been posting comments existing of 2 lines with some critiques on a sig. This doesn't make people like you, you might not be on here for that. But I've seen people going your way more than you might think and 'the path of destruction' isn't a fun one to walk on. If you can start making constructive posts that would be nice. (In general) if you see no reason to do this on 1 sig, that would be fine, but last 2 days I've only seen those 'not so nice' ones..

This was meant in general from the beginning, we all start off as noobs. So did you. Don't give others too much bad critique because that will hold a lot of people from ever continuing there work thinking this is how we artists are.. I just wanted to point out that we're not. And if you're going to a bad phase we've all been there, we can help you. Just ask. Don't go too far (you haven't yet, just warning you.) there have been several people going your way before you. That's why I wanted to notify you of that. I hope that from this point on you will start to make some positive constructive critique actually helping improve the sig rather than destroying the little feelings people had for becoming an artist.

imo pointing out flaws is constructive criticism
if you know what the flaws are you know to avoid it next time and you learn how to fix it

if they feel it is offensive then they can tell me that themselves
i see no reason why you have to interfere
when I see that the original poster of the sig has actually put in some actual effort then i will actually put in some effort on the critique
its a 2 way street. if they feel like making a sig by slapping things together of course iam not gonna waste my time and point out all the flaws in the sig
iam not breaking any rules
and iam not heading down any paths of "destruction"

As said before;
The swirly things in the text kinda kill it, remove it.
Also, try enhancing the effects on his hand. Incorporate effects shooting away from it, make it more of a focal point, since that's where my eyes are going atm.
YOu could also try to blend his upper body a bit more perhaps, and make the background->focal difference bigger by blurring/sharpening etc.

If you're not gonna waste your time pointing out the flaws, maybe just maybe you should consider not posting your critiques at all. It's a 2 way street after all, if you start hurting people with your critiques then you end up getting hurt yourself. Who said anything about rules? You can actually tell when someone hasnt done much work on a sig when they
A.Slap a render onto a bakground and add text
B.You've seen the render and in their sig they havnt done much with it
C.They never follow advice given to them and they continue to do things their own way
Thats what i base my criticism on. If you had read Deacon's post lately his sig wasnt all that hot but I know he at least tried and practiced techniques such as smudging and blending. I gave him a pretty positive comment for it because he's actually practicing these things and listening to other member's feedback. If he will continue this in the future than I will continue to give him positive feedback but if he's gonna get all wishy washy with it and just slap things together than I am gonna give him the same kind of comments that i give people that dont take advice because they think their sig is supreme.

If you're not gonna waste your time pointing out the flaws, maybe just maybe you should consider not posting your critiques at all. It's a 2 way street after all, if you start hurting people with your critiques then you end up getting hurt yourself.

If people dont want me to post critiques on their sigs then I will be happy to comply. Just tell me and you wont hear another word out of me on one of your works. And i dont understand how this would hurt me?

Actually i beg to differ. I have posted almost 300 comments, mostly critique, on Gamerenders.com and people seem to take it just fine. Heck some of them even fix their sigs after the critique and thank me. But thats probably because the whole forum is graphically oriented. And people are more open to taking advice i guess...

btw i tried taking it to pm but i guess you didn't want that..

No i read your pm but I was wondering why you didnt do that in the first place. You know just send me a pm saying
"Hey Fallen, could you possibly tone down your critiques a little? I dont think being so hard on the new members is a good idea because it might discourage them."
and my reply would have probably been
"Oh ya sure, i didnt realize how hard i was being because thats just how i normally critique."
but...no you chose to talk about it openly instead of privately and then the whole thing spiraled into an argument rather than a suggestion. Sure I'll tone down my critiques, thanks for the suggestion.
