Well don't trust me too much, I've greatly improved since what's in my sig now but don't really have time to practice any ATM.

On the plus side i like the background; very good for a first sig.

The text is also a lot better than what a lot of people choose for their first sig, not too distracting, but try using something a little simpler and really getting it to blend.

You're render, to be honest, doesn't fit at all, the sig would have looked better without it. It's usually better to either choose you're render first and adjust the sig's style accordingly (simple lines, not too much depth, good colour for this one). Or be prepared to go through many renders to get one thats fits a BG you've already made. There's always the abstract no render too...

Overall pretty OK, more so for a first sig 4/10. Just get a better render.

Sorry about the long post, i feel wordy today :P

ok well i agree homer doesnt fit with the color scheme as of yet, cause yellow and blue does go together kinda LOL... ne ways, something was said about rendering ... so i tried messing with it a bit and this is what came up from that.

though i dont quite understand how rendering makes it look a whole lot different, i mean, i did the lightning effect thing, and it makes the overall sig a bit darker... i think lol ...

i expect c/c about this one too, or any ideas that you have that i should try out.

^^

just did this one too ... its the HobGoblin in case you didnt know. same style tho ... lmao ... that noob style ^^

Yeah i started again after leaving for WoW, came back cause i didn't really have time and didn't feel like paying for something i wasn't going to use. I've been lurking for a little over a month or 2 now.

@ new sig (homer one)

It's better, making it darker does definitely make homer fit better.

What i said about renders:

The render in a sig is the focal that has been cut out of it's original surroundings, yuo usually don't have to make you're own renders.

About colours:

First of all you're thinking about blue and orange. which are complementary, yes. however either way even with complementary you want to have some of the yellow from homer in the background to help with the flow from one to the other. Also, generally it's easiest to make colours match by making them similar, instead of complementary, because it is very hard to actually find the two shades that work together very well.

You could definitely just find a bunch of tutorials, follow them exactly at first, and if you know some other techniques you can throw them in to help yourself improve. They really do help, A LOT.

@other sig

It's quite a bit better, though the text... well it kinda sucks, stick with simple text until you can really do it well.

I like the use of AxeRaider70's brushes there :P (winter breeze am i right? might be another one, some are quite similar)

yea i tried that with the hobgoblin one. i took the eye drop tool and grabed the grey from his armor and the orange and tried to impliment it into the bg together, but when i put the light effects on it it dimmed the colors down more than i wanted it too...

the focal point that you were talking about, is that like where the light is mainly shining on, to make it bright. ..? ive found some cool photoshop tutorials, most what i did were for text and such, now im moving on to the photo things, trying to figure out what yall are talking about LOL

thanks for all the great tips and comments ^^

XDDD yea its winter breeze .. good eye :)

And Misaklo summed it up pretty good.

is it too much to have more than 1 render per sig? like this one below. i think its not working all that well to begin with, because there are 2 focal points in it. both of the characters. do you agree?

Yeah i do, if you want 2 renders in your sig they should be next to eachother.

Yeah kinda sucks not seeing most of the regular posters from when i was last active. Worse seeing them banned.

@durkadurka

Your geocities thingy seems to have gone down. none of you're sigs are working anymore. Try rehosting them

i think everything about the hobgoblin one is great except the text. smaller is better, have it not take away fril the focal or the flow. i enjoy having to cocasinally hunt for the text in sigs XD

Just a random hing here, your name, durkadurka is a tad long. This will make it harder to place in sigs. If I were you id get a nickname like DD or something so its easier to properly place in a sig.

SuicideGrl = SG
BrokenSaint = Brkn
hemagoku = hema

You catch my drift?

He can keep the entire name just needs to be more creative on where you place the name and how. All preference. Anyways the sig is ok. I like the colors but the text killed it. Doesn't flow with the sig. Other then that it's ok i suppose <3

yes i completely agree with that about the "durkadurka" .. after making the sig, and i thought looked pretty good, i couldnt find a right color for the font, nor could i find a right font type for it. i was almost about to not have the text in there at all, but then thought it would have been empty without it.

on the shortening of the name, yes, ive done a couple wth " Dd " in it, but in comparing it to the hobgoblin sig, didnt look as good to me as the goblin does so i didnt post them. i really wanna be better but by posting the same sigs over and over, i dont want to flood the forum with it, and get backlashed from yall from doing that LOL..

the text tutorials that i did mainly was to make them plastic looking, or with diamonds shit like that. right now im trying to figure out how to make things pop out ... example. say you have a sig, the hobgoblin one, make a new layer and put 3 bubbles of different sizes in it... im trying to figure out how to wrap the image behind the bubble in the bubbles...

wow, reading that, it makes no sense lmao ...

Stick with basic fonts, eg. arial, new times roman or veranda.

by malecka
basic fonts= arial, times new roman, courier and comic sans >.< veranda isnt
about DDs sign, deff the letter should be 1 color, not gradient nor shadows
the whole sign is just too... colored. letters should be simply.
EDIT: AND not yellow letters xD

yea i def learned my lesson with those yellow letters.. lol ... thats why when i made it i tried to darken it a bit, to make it fit better. lmao ..

... it didnt work =P
