GIMP? Like photoshop?

I have heard of this program called Gimp, that is supposedly like Photoshop
Does anyone have a link to it, and any information?

Main Requirements
Well, it is necessary to have a C compiler and related tools to compile and install the source package. For the most part, GCC is recommended, but a lot of effort has gone into making GIMP compile with as many compilers as possible.
A fair amount of disk space is needed too. For a full build with debugging, at least 200 megs free is recomended. Without debugging and with static libs turned off, GIMP can be compiled in 20-30 megs of space. This will vary depending on architecture of course. A full GIMP install including all the gimp-data packs can be 20 megs or more.
No i have not downloaded anything yet, but what is GCC?

GIMP is like:
If we sent PS to war, and he came back handicap, and because the social aid sucks in the US, he was forced to find a new job. But, because of his age and poor health he became an artist. He would be GIMP.

Or you can try GIMPshop which makes it work more like Photoshop (never tried this as I'm used to GIMP):

It takes some getting used to, but it really is a very powerful program. Sure, it's no Photoshop, but it's free, and very usable. I'd advice searching for some tutorials to get the hang of it though.
GCC = GNU C Compiler, which is what you won't be needing if you just download a pre-compiled version for whatever operating system you are using. Most Linux distributions come with The Gimp already, but I'll presume that you want to download the Windows binary in stead.

Oh.. and I've always used photoshop so one day my curiosity got the best of me and I tried GIMP and it was a waste of time, really ps is better imo. And if you have PS why bother with anything else PS>anything else...
