Back to Photoshop my first signature

Just made this signature as an opener to get me back into using photoshop 7.

It took me less than an hr and I took my time, edited, and all that stuff. I hope to make an advanced and impressive one in the near future.

But till then, what do you guys think of my current skills?

Would be better if you added a border and some effects or an text.
Also the size of it is not ideal for a sig.

1. It does have a border.
2. It does have some effect
3. It does have a text
4. that's just your opinion..

You make them seem like they're rules imho.. Which they're not..

Though the lines over it aren't contributing to the sig tbh.. And it's a little plain if you catch my drift.. For a first it's pretty decent, have seen better have seen worse.. Just practice some more and you'll get better.. Or do some tutorials..

get some color and light in there! something to make a person want to look a longer time at the sig.

good place for fonts: http://www.dafont.com/

take a look at more professional sigs and see what they do :) i espacially like rizla's sig ^^

Make your own sig, don't steal a background or image and just decorate it.

Thank you for the tips guys and to the first poster, he totally didnt even look at my signature.

I wanted to add light and all that, but just remembered where the shadows where lol ><.
I hope to do some vector masking and blending renders in there, but that especially to be original takes more then over an hr ^^.

I will impress you guys sure enough, as I will be original good or not I don't use tutorials to make a pre-done image to look generic.

It is just his opinion...who else's could it be?

What's yer point??!!?

Anywho, the sig is cool for starters. But don't claim to have done intensive work on it...because you, me, and the whole Cirque Du Soleil know you didn't.

There's a nifty 'X' at the top left portion of every post, feel free to delete your own posts at your own leisure time.

What did you actually do besides render a background inscrutable?

That's what I was trying to say; less bluntly.

I think you guys are being a little to harsh, but I agree it wasn't much to impress you guys and I was not trying to do so, I hope to do that in the future.

Just pray they don't bump this later on, in the distant future.

dom. Out of line much?

Seriously dude, come on. Why such a blunt and "attackative" reply? Who ever said that a sig had to be made from scratch? He specifically said that he was just getting back into the feel of PS. If he was a complete amazing genius at PS then sure, id understand your criticisms, if you had toned it down.

None of my sigs have ever been done from scratch. Ive always used a render, a photo or a background as a base, and built up from there with editing. Still, it is my sig. If i was to take your sig, and change it to my name. Then you would have all the reason to react in such a way.

I have to agree with SoBlu, you guys are being way to harsh here. Shadowman you too. Let the triers try, let them learn from positive critisism and mistakes, dont put them off from improving by bombarding them with negativity and hostility.

It's a SRO orientated sig, of course he has to get his SRO image from somewhere, and the likely hood is that he didn't draw it. However, how do you or i know that he did not draw that background? I mean, have you seen the Community section of the Main Website? There are a lot of people who are drawing their own images and submitting them to JoyMax.

Is it really that horrible to give him possitive critique which doesn't add insult to injury? The others did. Now, i know that you are a very prominent member of the AC dom, but remember, you are still in SRF.
