I think you're over doing it..

what's with this duplicate image thing.. we already see the guy's head.. which apparently is all you want us to see.. why do we need to see the back of his head and the same pattern again?

this is a design style often called 2d frame composition, framing, frame by frame, etc.

It can serve a couple purposes, one being that the artist/compositor wants us to recognize what a focal is, or the sub-highlight of the flow, etc, thus showing a sense of pride in what they had done. I don't think thats why reK did it in this one, I think he enjoyed the look of it, or perhaps was challenging himself to adapt to the style and become comfortable with it. Im also sure he fell in love with his text and also wanted to show off the visual effects he created to the left of his focal point.

It's not entirely the same pattern, I believe he wanted to show us the effects behind his name while attempting a new style.
