2moons T-shirt design

So, there's a T-shirt design contest on the 2moons forum, and I wasn't gonna enter but then I saw how horrifically bad all the other entries were that people were posting... Anyway, I don't want to post it there for criticism because to put it bluntly the 2moons forum is a wasteland of pure E-tard idiocy with only very few glimmers of intelligence floating around. But I would like some comments and criticism because I'm not really satisfied with how it turned out.

This was done in Paint.NET, by the way. Contest requirements and stock images are here, if anyone is interested in seeing what I was working with (I mainly used \artwork\monster\pose.jpg and \logo\icon.png from the fankit):

Direct questions.

Should I have kept the blur off the character entirely? I feel like I went a little overboard, but I wanted it to have a bit of a connection to the bg.
Text look okay? I didn't know what I was doing there, really.
Does the stroke around the character obscure too much of the trident? Here's one with no stroke for comparison.

Looks good.. but for printing on a t-shirt it could probably look a little more crisp, without the blur on the character and a little blur reduction from the moons. Again, being on a t-shirt you may want the text to be more clear and legible but I'm not sure. I don't have any t-shirt printing experience so it's hard to tell how it will come out on one.

Design-wise kids these days are all about blood and violence.. maybe you could incorporate some of the blood spatter behind/around the text.

Edit: Checked out some of the other entries, you're right about them being horrific, yours is definitely at the top imo, but I did only check the first two pages.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm too lazy to go back and take the blur off the character. There are some better entries in the contest since more time has passed, but none that stuck out as particularly awesome. I probably wouldn't wear a game t-shirt anyway.
