Photoshop CS vs Photoshop elements

Is getting CS worth it? There's a $500ish difference in price. Unless I take a class at the community college then I get a student price.

Mostly I'll use it for pictures and stuff like that.

The alternative is Elements 5.0 for 79.99.

I don't want to hear about illegally obtaining it using a keygen, etc. I don't do that.

damn if you dont want to do it the torrent way its very expensive! :banghead: Although you get nice results, i'd never pay that kind of money. :P

(pm if you change your mind about the "other" way of getting ps CS2...)

I'm not familiar with Elements, but I've heard it's mainly for photo-editing.

CS is good, but yeah it's very expensive. If you go for it, get it for the student price, 500 is just so frigging expensive >>

elements is mainly photo only. however, photoshop has so much more drawing (pen tool), and painting options/tools (better brushing). ps also has more filters and stuff.

I used photoshop elements 4.0 before I started using photshop CS2. It has actually got some features that ps cs2 doesn't have, but still, CS2 is way better. ;)

But ur not BUYING, right?? It took me 5min to download photoshop CS2 at adobe and crack it with a keygen. Search for it on limewire, and find instructions for how to crack it. Thousands of ppl do it.. ^^

Anyway, it's up to you. Good luck!

just because thousands do it doesn't make it right.

CS 2 seems to be the runaway winner. It's $299 at the local community college, ouch. Sure beats the $628 retail price though.

Can't say that's a bad idea. Photoshop is ass expensive.
If I had to choose between buying Photoshop or Gimp, I'd definitely go for Gimp.

I would pass on buying CS 2 right now, altough I did when it launched.
The reason for this is that they are releasing a new photoshop version in the next few weeks / months (CS 3).
It is already released as a beta version, so I would recommend you download it and try it for 30 days (trail)

You are correct. When I do, I buy it @ $0.99ea on itunes.

Piracy of all kinds is illegal. The music and software industry can, and has gone after individuals that have stolen from them. They will again.

Do what you want I prefer to stay legit in all aspects of my life.
