I've been conversed

Post by woutR »

Okay I have Photoshop CS2 now, yipii.
I remember again why i don't use these programs, too many options !
But I am going to conquer these options, and I need your help.
I need a VERY, VERY simple guide to layers. Only layers!

Or you can just tell me how to make a layer. ( I kind of know how to make a layer and a background, just not how to get them in one image.)
Please help me, I'm full of ideas and I wanna make me some sigs :D

Ctrl+J= Duplicate layer

Ctrl+E= Merge layer

The new layer is right next to delete layer(The trash can)

Well to create a new layer hold Ctrl+Shift+Alt and press N. Or go through Image > New Layer or something like that.

To merge layers (combining multiple layers into one) choose the layer you want to merge and hold Ctrl and press E. This will merge the layer downward so be careful that you have the other layer you want merged underneath!

Here's a list with shortcuts, it's a PDF format, though:

Did you REALLY had to put that in a readable font size? Now my image will shatter! :P

O.o layers, do you mean what each layer blending mode does?

Image

let's see normal, exactly how it looks
dissolve, edges dissolve into bg

darken, darker color over
multiply, base colors multiply w/ lighter color on top
color burn, color applied to dark areas is darkened
linear burn, darkens base color

lighten, light color replaces darker color
screen, base colors lighten w/ lighter color on top
color dodge, color applied to light areas is lightened
linear doge, brightens base color

overlay, multiply or screen depends on base color
soft light, depending shade of gray, color is darkened or lightened
hard light, depending shade of gray, color is multiplied or screened
vivid light, dodges/burns base color depending on blend color
linear light, dodges/burns base color depending on shade of gray
pin light, replaces base color depending on shade of gray
hard mix, combo of vivid light and posterization

hue, uses hue of top layer over base
saturation, like hue, by saturation of top layer is used instead
color, used usually for coloring black/white images
luminosity, uses luminance of top color over base

that took forever to type, lol
