There's a ton of ps tutorials. Just do a search in google. My all-time favorite tutorial site is still "good-tutorials.com". It rocks!

Hmm, for tips, I don't really have a lot to say about that. However, many beginning ps users will make a sig in the following way: 1)make a bg 2) paste in a render 3) slam on some brushes. They don't pay any attention to composition, color, lighting, and so on. I recommend starting out w/ the render first, and then think of things that will work with the render. If there's a background that you really want to use, change the colors of the render to match.
