Best is a relative word. LOL Its kinda whatever you know and have gotten comfortable with.

I use PaintShop Pro.

Add some cheesy text and and gradients? Sure gimp is fine.

Everyone has their own preference for different stuff. Your best bet would be to find out what exactly you need to do, and see which program can do it the best.

well the most common are Paintshop pro and photoshop

i use paintshop and i can put that on disc for ya and bring it round if you want but iv always wanted to try photoshop

Of course the last PhotoShop is better then GIMP, but GIMP is free.

photoshop is better than GIMP in my oppinion (maby becouse i dont understand s**t on GIMP

) but you can do some real good things on GIMP. AoENuker and Carras are both GIMP's (as far as i know) and they make realy good sigs.

I think you can do anything with Photoshop, except of 3D things like C4D. So I would say photoshop.
But if you never used it, it will be difficult.

I just got Photoshop (*cough**.torrent**cough*) and i dont really get how to do stuff with it... I guess i'll have to try and learn.... :roll:

Gimp is good if you have the time to mess with it to learn how to perfect your skills but do to the fact it is free it is worth the time and is great to use.

whether photoshop or GIMP.. it just depends on what you are most comfortable with. ofcourse certain programs are meant for certain things and other programs have more options than others but then again...if u're good at using a low-end program..but s*ck horribly with a higher end program...stick to the lower-end program[the one u're more comfortable with].

..and then maybe practice from time to time with the higher end program. xp

..i use photoshop.

Sure GIMP is OKAY but what if you want to make something that ownz?

Cinema 4d / 3d studio max / Maya / Photoshop CS2 / ImageReady CS2.
The list of progs I use atm >.>

Gimp is pretty much basic stuff imo.

And what program is the best? hhmm...The best is the one you prefer to use, you should just try everything..
