3D Studio Max

Who here usng this animation program?
I am studying it at the moment at college and find i can do loads i just want to see if anyone else has done any simple/complex animations on it they wish to share
Plus has ANYONE got a nice side image for a space fighter ship im trying to find one so i can model it out for a project

I’m using it since, like a week. I’m a noob, but have to learn it for some research assignment at school. Building a lego character in it lol. Looks weak :p IMO I should stick to ps.. pff

Your lucky my school as an outdated 3D animation program called Organica, I have to make a 3 second animation thats only allowed 15fps. If anyone else has used Organica you'd agree with me that it is terrible.

Well this is a specialist course and im using 3d max 8 latest is 9 soo...
il try and get you some of my stuff but i dont have much new stuff rendered just old models

Ive used it, very nice. Ive done a short animation of a space scene (planets rolling by with sun and stars then space ship

) Took me ages and then my pc had to be reformatted a few weeks ago so ive lost it all

.

for my intro i do a space scene 4 ships 1 bad other 3 in formation middle one gets blown up oother 2 roll to the left and other right to avoid the blast hehe
my current project is a BIG battle scene me and another kid are doing it soo its gona be good
iv gota come up with a fightship design though i have to make one to show advanced modeling big ship im importing hehe
ideas would be handy i want fighters to match this...

I did not make it but prob could do something to this standard or close
....you have no idea how much detail is in that one ship haha uses all the college RAM up with just that no animation...gota use my laptop probs

Lol cant sorry. Gotta show my teacher eventually that i actually can work this program
Got this dude in my clas whom is like an expert on 3dsmax, and maya etc. He even build's characters, and currently is working on a game.. his creations look soooo cool.

Wong, you should do a tutorial on animating this stuff. I really need a good one, since my lego character has to walk lol.
Ill post a screen of this thing when im finsihed, which should be around christmas next year.

hmm thats an idea i got a load of old sheets from when i started animating
plus when this forums get a mod prob not me i dont know enough i dont think they can sticky it

yay im back at college today so il make a quick animation and post the vids here iv only got 3hours soo dont expect nothing amazing but iv got about a year for my big animation and write ups etc

Yeah it's an awesome program! We had a few classes of it last year, and I really liked it!

I made an X-Wing once..

The teacher looked at it and said: "Cool! What is it?" cuz he never saw the Star Wars movies
I should look for that file, I must have saved it somewhere..

its soo simple but i like it

was my first rendered animation
if you guys want i can blow up a moon or asteroid with a laser there quick and easy
And this is what im going to model soon from this image nothing else

I also use 3DS Max ^^ The program is great but I can't find any tutorials on making water and cloth
But I've seen what u can do with it

How do u learn how 2 use it ?
I d/led the
tutorials on the homepage and I use tutorials on

http://www.3dtutorials.sk and
http://www.cgsociety.org. There was 1 other site but I didn't really learn much from that

I've been using Max for about 4-5 months now and I've still got ALOT 2 learn

lol but iv got a lot to learn aswell i cant do humaniod animations very well but i can..im learning another tech for doing it though

or was it possibly one of u relatives ? If that guy was a "real" teacher (sum who learnd/studied 3D-whateva), where did u get such an incredible service ?

Well he is a very good teacher and im learning a lot from him and if you need help i wil do what i can but iv got a lot of work to do on my course and im planning a massive project (well not that big) but i need to learn a lot to do the rest of my course
