Someting i'm working on...

It's nowhere near done. I still need to do something with the banner (will probably be animated in some way since the nav is going to have roll overs). I need to do a footer. I need to finish the content area, I want to bring the gray from te navbar more into the site. I need a background. And I basicly need to decorate.
But, it would help knowing what people think is wrong so I can fix it during my next draft.
thought = articles
sight = photos
speech = links
I'll change the text when I have time. I just don't feel like putting "home, pictures, links"

Nice, I like the modern yet simplistic design. The colors are pretty cool too.
I didn't think anyone here had web design in em so I wasn't going to post this.. but I figure I'll share mine too. It's for a gaming center I'm going to be opening up as a branch off of my current employer.

Not bad, but you should consider making it stretch vertically.
I'm going to start reworking some parts of it, don't forget to check here for updates and help me with criticism

The colors contrast nicely, but too much black in my opinion and the font could be a bit more distinctive for the headers at least.

Yeah I was planning on making it stretch vertically, it's still a w.i.p. as is the gaming room.

15 folders, 62 layers... I didn't think I had so many since the design is rather incomplete =\
I need suggestions on which background colour to use. I was thinking a dark blue?
I'm going to work on that banner now. Going to probably vector something, but the style/colour is going to make it hard to find something that suits it. I also have to lighten the photo section a bit.
Anyways, here's with the photos section redone:

Got side tracked: The images load when you click the ones at top.

When i'm done it's going to come with a colour selection. Here's a preview:
And I figured out how the banner will work. It's going to be a loader bar, starts black and fills up. Then afterwards the diagonal pattern will scroll sideways.
*updated background/colour selector

As someone who's never been a fan of Aqua, I like the color selection buttons. Why not keep the background black? I think it makes for a nice stark contrast to the polish of the rest. By surrounding it with nothing you focus the attention even more on the content. Picking a color runs the risk of distracting someone who loves or hates that color. Using black will only distract design fanatics who aren't interested in the page as a whole.

I realize that after testing. If you look on the last one update I added, there's a white bar with fade outs. That's the background, repeated horizontally. bg color="#000000"
I also shrunk the size of the image preview. Changed it to latest article. the black boxes will be pictures, they represent the most recent articles.

I'm in dire need of opinions and criticism. I sketched out the header/content and still haven't started the footer.
Here's how the layout will work:
*Nav: thought = blog, articles; sight = photo blog, random pictures; speech = links, to friends and such.
- I know it's cheesy. I'm going to rework it, I just didn't feel like having a "home, pictures, link" generic navigation.
*The articles page is a bit different...the black boxes will contain numbers (1-6) as will the black boxes on the articles. It will work like an achor, you click the box it scrolls down to the entry.
*The right side countains 1 or 2 boxes for images that pertain to the article.
*A splash page will give users a selection between 4 colour schemes. On the top left, you can also find a colour scheme changer.
*The big blue thing, the banner, and the navigation will be in flash. Roll overs...the blue part will load in like a loading box then the diagonal pattern will scroll horizonatally.
This is what worries me:
*Is the whole navigation scheme a bit too complicated?
*Are the right side boxes too distracting?
Thanks for your help!

No, and no. I think you worry too much..
It looks fantastic and if somebody can't figure out the navigation their opinions shouldn't matter anyway.
