How does the shadow start behind it when the lightsource is in the back :?

Was expecting a little more "manipulation."

Cool nonetheless; keep at it.

Keep practicing and keep them coming. Working with 3D renders is a good start but it gets a lot more tricky when using people/animals as the main focal. For a little CNC, first thing that most people would notice is that the placement of the shadow vs. the light source is completely off. Secondly, for a more detailed piece, the blur cannot be uniform across all surfaces unless they are equidistant from your viewpoint. The further they are from the area of focus (Depth of field), the more blurry they become.

shadows aren't blurred equally along their length. they're sharpest when closest to their source and blur out. (not always the case of course, but generally)
also I don't see why you brought the image into AE when you could've done all that in PS with only a couple of adjustment layers.
Dat contrast is too damn high. It doesn't really work in this image.
even w/ the high contrast nothing really pops and everything gets lost.

side-note:
when working in PS
I would recommend using a neutral color (mid gray is fine) as your background in photoshop and not a light blue (or any other color).
