perhaps try a similar font with a rounded D? that should clear up the confusion.
Looks nice for the rest, I like the colours. Not sure I agree with the blurs in the lower right corner though

Yeah another font should solve the confusion, you cant imagine the rest of the letter as easy with that font to know its a D.

Duplicate 2 layers whatever you want to apply it to, color overlay one of them red, and the other light blue, move one slightly to the left and the other slightly to the right until it looks good. I always like to add yellow to my 3d effects also, I just move that one upwards
Edit: Put the duplicated layers under your render of course
