Sup guys.. Don't know how active this part of the forums is nowadays, but yeah.. I have started to use PS (and After Effects for MW2), but I would like to become reasonably decent with both.

Just wondering if there are really any essentials that I need to know about, and if anyone knows of some good tuts I can watch to become pro.

Pr0d in the makin here boys and girls :sohappy:

Learning how to operate PS more efficiently and finding out the use of as much options as you can would give you more freedom and ease when working on a piece. The great thing about PS is that it has so much potential but a lot of people who use it stick to the same formula of sig-making over and over again. I would urge you to explore but with guidance and direction, which brings me to my next tip:

Learning the basics of composition and looking for different forms of artwork for reference would definitely help you out as well. Although I haven't been producing much lately, I still do some reading on the sideline and look at a couple of fresh new art pieces (paintings, photographs, sculptures, architecture, etc) almost daily.

You can either download books about Photoshop (or art composition/photography/painting etc; PM me if you want info on that) or you can search for specific topics you want to more about. As for specific websites, I usually go to abduzeedo and deviantart for tutorials but I also get constant e-mails from companies like Adorama or tips from artist blogs via FB.

Here's a few:

-expirement
-try to go about doing the same thing different ways.
-learn allllllllll the tools
-"Rules" of art are more like tips or suggestions. Don't let them stop you from trying new things. Sometimes you have to say **** the rules; sometimes it's better to follow the rules.
