Silkroad Reskins

Would anyone like to request a reskin of any ingame texture?

As a proof of concept, here's a new wolf, the "Red Mountain Longhair". It's not complete- I'll need to test it ingame first to see how it looks.

In a couple of weeks I'll be able to show ingame screenshots of new skins, and possibly (although I can't promise anything) I can provide you with the means of using the skins in your own game. If not, screenshots from me will have to suffice untill it is possible.

Feel free to ask for anything. The only limitations are 1) I can't edit meshes, and 2) My artistic abilities are not infinate.

A reskin of the white wolves, to actually be more white, would be nice. They seem a bit blotchy with greyish tints.

NightShroud what Tatianasaphira posted is a skin.

However, it's not a model skin, it's an interface skin which is quite common in games like Ragnarok Online.

Exactly, and Tatianasaphira apparently doesn't know what a 3d model skin is.

Exactly, and for Ragnarok, I have made over 45 skins...so I do know what I am talking about

I used to make skins for UT2004.

And made a couple for CoD2.

The whiter wolf is np, I did that originally before trying to turn it into a redhead. x) I like it better than I like the red one, because the muscles are better defined and it looks a lot cleaner.

I can't say anything about how this was done, not yet. You'll have to wait a while untill the importer is finished and they can go ingame.

So you don't think gameguard will block the client after you mod that particular file?

Bake: Not unless something is done wrong when importing it back in. Right now it's a little difficult, but absolutely not impossible to get custom skins imported into the game. Filesize has to be the same, or smaller, than the original, otherwise it gets tricky.

Just so you know, I'm not the author of the importer/exporter apps, but I'm teamed up with the guy who is. :]

*sings the Spiderman theme* :D

Hum. Now, this isn't necessarily an endorsement of your activities or anything, which may-or-may-not-be kosher, but... think you could make a full-body hunter suit? :D

full body suit for hunters would be cool - just like a thief but without the hat and mask and keep the flag. My brother and I were talking about this a while back, too bad JM will probably never make it themselves

That would be nice, but unfortunately the game looks for hunter -flags-, rather than a suit, when you equip that job item. So I could make a suit, but, it would take some serious game hacking to make the client put on a suit when you equip a flag. I don't think it's possible, sorry. :(

Are you sure? I thought about that, but the thief item is a suit, so the concept is there...

Every textured 3D mesh in any game is assigned a texture file, a skin. But the instructions on how to wrap that texture over the mesh is stored in the mesh file, not the texture.

In this case, the mesh is just a flag that is attached to the character model's torso. So editing the flag mesh, or its texture, would be pointless if we're going for a suit that replaces armor.

To get a hunter full-body suit, somehow you would have to hack the hunter flag item to display a completely different mesh when it is equipped, and attach it to the character instead of the default flag mesh.

Theoretically I would say it's possible, but these tools are not nearly advanced enough to do something like that.

And what about if you copy the thief suit, modify it, and then save it over the hunter suit mesh, or whatever it's called.
Would that work?

Not sure. I can imagine it would stick a thief suit on somebody's back. :) But who knows, maybe it would work. I'll have to ask.

Can I send you my thief suit redux?

(If you'll send me the base skin that is =p)
