Took me like a minute to figure out what was the render :P

+1 on Clipping Masks.
-1 on blue light on his left hand.

I think it would be better if you made it seem like that blue mayonnaise was coming from him (like his chest or something)
lighting is weak.
I've seen better from you.

On the lower left part of the sig where you have blue effects running; it seems like that effect would suit a more cartoon like creation, say a superhero or something.

I like a lot of your work but this one is an exception. Yes, as someone pointed out, the blue light on the left looks awkward and definitely does not integrate itself with the entire thing. But in addition to that, as soon as I look at the sig, rather than looking at an image with combined and blended elements (focal render, brushes, bg, etc), all I see are flat layers on top of one another. The darkened designs on the bg like the arrows and the nets, the blue brushes (?) on the bottom foreground, and the sudden emptiness for >80% of the focal -- they simply don't add up. Just my 2 cents. =/

For the most part, a 2D render would look good with 2D designs (maybe a little 3D), but a 3D focal would look great (almost exclusively) with 3D additions.
