I like that you incorporated "Gaara's" actually like talent into the sig.
You didn't just throw in some random lights and called it a day, really goes with what Hostage is always saying that make a piece unique to it's render/focal. In other words, if your focal is a fish don't make the environment a volcano.
That's saying if you made that sand stuff effect, haha. Which I suspect you did

One thing I forgot to mention. Your placement and power of the light source in the clean version is near perfect. The shadows on gaara probably couldn't be better. It looks... natural.

Sand looks real - Background city look real... Gaara does not. He doesn't look like he fits in.

I prefer the colors on the first one.
