Is there any particular win in making a Deviantart page?
For some reason I've always felt somewhat discouraged to make one for myself...

Back in the day the online design communities were a lot livelier and deviantart was more serious. Now it's like myspace and all the good communities imploded; they've been replaced with "SiG WaRz" forums.

That "logotype" is cool.

That isn't. :x

I was looking at that this morning; it was like 4-5 years ago.

DevianArt has changed a lot in the last couple of
years. All the artist i used to follow have either moved on to
setting up their own sites or simple vanished :(

To me, sites like DeviantArt are for people that either a) aren't confident with their ability and need critique to get better or b) not that serious about their art.

"A" is kind of a stretch though, considering there's a large percent that don't get any type of critique.

I'm b) :sohappy: I only do tags, barely a hobby.

I like dA just because it keeps my online art stuff organized and it doesn't **** up the quality of the image that I upload. That's pretty much it. Plus it's an easy way to keep track of some unknown or semi-famous people in the industry.

You should consider making an account.

Are you attempting to insult my skill?

I'm gonna just going to pass that as a "For the Lols" post.

@Kraq:

One of the most important things for people to have to succeed in this industry is to get as much exposure as possible. I'm not saying you should just rely on dA though. In addition to having their own website, a lot of artists use things like dA, twitter, and other social networking websites to get a huge fan base since you never know who's looking. It's not as excuse not to hustle in trying to get meetings, contacts, and face time with potential employers but it's part of that process.

So I really would have to disagree with you on this one although you are entitled to your own opinions. I'm just sharing my 2 cents.

I've only got one artwork on there. Hopefully I'll have time after exams to create and upload some more.
