It's been a little while. Another attempt at a bit of smudging, kept the effects quite simple.

P.S: Which looks cooler?

Yeah it is empty. I always have trouble filling a smudge tag.

It's too empty, you can fill it with some sort of c4d with cliping masks or smth

As far as filling it, I would suggest finding a texture that vibes with his armor, or totally contrasts with it and introduce it as an element to support your focal, and to direct our eyes. I like the hues in the first better...but Im just a sucker for that part of the spectrum. :)

Maybe fill it with more smudge?

There's only onje little tiny smudged thing to the right of the focal.

Second but tone down the green just a tad.
Looks good to me.
Add maybe some dots (particles) to add some depth and atmosphere.

Gracias ese. :) I'll work on adding C4Ds on my next smudge tag, although I usually find them to be akward with smudge.

I'm not really feeling the clipping mask/dropshadow combo, something about it is off puttin. I really like the BG and like Rizla said a nice texture would go great but I think in the end what's really killing it for me is the blandness of the render itself.

There's no real dynamic features which would help with your flow and that "emptiness"; he just seems to be standing there which makes it harder for you to build up on the tag.

Anyway, looking good with the BG my preference is the second one--with a little more contrast.
