Now I want something 2d-ish for the ice part. Maybe a nice green leaf for the middle.

Are you interested in something like this:

Because I will be honest, both your images feel immaturish, and lacking any kind of imagination

Yours is just a gradiant, black border, and a bevel. The ice is lovely though, and I'm not really one for colors. I don't see how a gradiant is more imaginative than metal at all, and how can a picture be immature?

She meant both amaturish and immaturish. The last not meaning your behaviour, but the style.
And as for my website border, I know its a gradiant, bevel and a 3d rendering, however...it is vastly different from your 2d rendering. That is what I was referring to. Right now as it stands your image has no personality. I was showing you my image as an idea of what I can do. As in I can make you a siggy. Something with some personality. If you are interested

5 mins, bit of a quicky. If you're talking about the flame, I was recommended 2d over the 3d rendering, and the model one, I don't like much.

Well then when you do, take a screenie. Then....place the image onto it, and then drop the opaque to say 45%, then you can write your char's name or something

Hmm..Any ideas for a clan sig? like a group pic or something or not?

Depends on the shape of what you want. You can go with something like the way I have mine, or stick with traditional squares....
Or go really funky and have a border of gel buttons!

u should know what you want to do before startin doin something.... decide how ur gonna distribute the space, what colors are u gonna use, effext, shadows or even filters.
unless u just want to play around with photoshop or w/e.... in that case id recommend you to try 564676846 different stuff and see how everything works

u can fit whatever u want.... just resize... but id recommend u to keep ur sig or whatever ur doin "readable" and "understandalbe" without requirin ppl to zoom in

it might come out very strange. Your best bet, is to have everyone either submit a pic to you of their char, in medium form, or, take a pic of everyone and off-center it (like on the left or the right) and then build the pic that way
Like this one I did for Ragnarok. I assembled every char I have on that game into one pic:

While some of your points are valid, I would be very careful with the words you use, especially after viewing some of the things you've done. Don't toot one's horn, so to speak.
@NightShroud
When I gave you that fireball, I wasn't implying you simple paste it and add one effect to it. In fact, I actually stated that fireball might not be good for you, but gave it as an idea of the clean-cut edged fireball I was speaking off. If anything, I at least expected you to cut it out.
Just like your other post, you need to show more before posting it here. Merely a background, especially one as simple as yours, is not enough for us to really even say much about. It's like holding a blank canvas and asking what someone else thinks about it. They say there's nothing there but you respond with, "Yeah, but imagine all that could be there!"
From what it seems, however, you haven't even gotten past the background stage of a sig. If you're going for a common and basic sig, you still have pictures and text you need to put on there, both of which require equal amount of attention and skill as making a good background.
All aspects are hard because all aspects need to flow together. This is why you need to figure out what it is exactly you're trying to do. Color scheme. The objects you intend to use. Layout. What kind of text you might like to use. These are all things to think about before you sit down and make something.
To be honest, all your first stuff is going to be crap. Unless you just really need help, I'd advise against posting your first stuff until you're confident enough with PS to make something worth presenting. It may still be crap but at least you're at the point where you can improve. As it is right now, you're still learning the basics of the program.
And don't feel bad. I could post a lot of things that I've made that are complete crap. In fact, I think a lot of stuff I make right now are complete crap simply because I use PS as a on the side "hobby" (I wouldn't even warrant it that). However, what you see me doing now is ten times better than what I used to do when I was first learning how to even do the most simplistic things in PS. Yet, even today my stuff is just basic abstract background, picture, and some text. I haven't really gotten into REAL design and "fabrication" of things all because I'm still not comfortable with some aspects of PS.
My advice: give us something to look at.

I realize that I am not perfect with images. I don't think any self respecting artist would ever say they were done learning, however, I have done a massive amount of graphics to know. His original was way too plain, and he did step up to the plate, with that red box. Which was very well done.

What about current? (temp...for now)

In my personal opinion, this would look much better without the black border around the fireball box, and if the red outer part of that box were instead the texture of the background; from there, probably with some more tweaking, you could make it look more like part of the signature; a button, or raised tile on the stony/metallic background texture. This fireball tile/button/panel would then grow out of the background instead of just being stuck on top as an obvious cut 'n paste.
But the real problem is, do you know what you want your sig to look like? Do you have an image in your head of what you want your sig to be, an idea of what it should say to people when they see it? It seems like you're coming from the idea of, well, textured background, plus some skill-related images, plus cutout of your char in a pose, = good sig. No.

I like it, but I wish people would read and stop posting the first image in the sig, we've gotten past it, thank YOU for reading..-.-. =)

So you want me to give you feedback on a red gradient? Or on the burnt paper effect with a black line border? A signature is not mandatory. If you don't have an idea of what you want there, do us all a favor and save the thread space by using nothing.

You'd be better off cropping an image and pasting it as your sig until you're sure what you want.

But...it is something to work with. Since he was interested in a pic of him with a thief suit, he can place that onto the image later, again opaque (45-35% so that it looks ghostlike) and then some small lettering at the bottom. That way its more constructive use of the space, and it doesn't detract from the original image
