How do you PS?
Ok, my Digital Imagery professor is all about image integrity. If you want to erase part of an image to make it transparent, she will take off points (for not using a layer mask, obviously). I really never used layer masks much before this class so it was kind of a shock.
Anyway id like to know what you guys think, and do. Are you strict when it comes to the rules of PS or are you straight up unorganized and sloppy?
Personally I always make backups of images and if I edit an image in a .psd I usually duplicate and hide.

I think I'm a little bit of both. I'm pretty sloppy with most transparent pieces but I'll do layer masks whenever I do remember. I keep all my layers really organized though. Everything in groups and color-coded.

I make a backup of the entire stuff every so often, but never name layers and such.

The best way out - is through.

Re: How do you PS?
sloppy as hell. i keep making more layers and never name any of them. sometimes i even end up with empty ones. then again, i just use PS for fun.

Re: How do you PS?
well i am a bit of both.
But i try to organize everything as good as i can. For example if i don't name and organize all layers i would go crazy with 70+ layers on almost every piece.
and i am open to everything new.
i just learned about masks about 2~3 months ago, but thrust me it will really make your life easier =)

Re: How do you PS?
I'm very meticulous when it comes to organizing my .PSD's otherwise, if not, I get lost in my own work.
This is what a typical work space will look like for me. Used an old sig for sake of size but you could easily times the amount of groups I use by atleast three on a larger canvas.(which normally is 800x1230 as my preferred size)

Re: How do you PS?
After reading the thread, I have tried to keep everything organised, named layers, made groups. That was awesome, because when you know what you need to fix, you just go straight to messy place and fix it ;>
So now I am keeping everything organised
