i can anyone help when you cut out and make the char stand on its own your backgrownd it black but mine comes out chekered and i dont want that so how do i change it and when i move it i get this stupid problem aswell so can anyone help me please..... :?: :?: :?:

would this technique work on older versions of photoshop?

also, because this is based on cutting out pixels, would a magnetic lasso work on selecting a vector character i'm working on?

ps sorry for the 1 year bump but i'm stuck on my personal project

Yes, it will work in older versions. The magnetic lasso will work too, but it's much easier to be exact with the pen tool.
