Post by IsenGrim »

Hey there, need some help here.

How do u make invisible pixels for the internet?
and which file-types can be used for storing pictures with invisible pixels? eg. png? gif? can jpeg or bmp store invisible pixel information?

An illustration of what i mean:
Note: sorry Ayachan for using your sig, but it literally fits what i want to know

With .png, like you did, you get the best cut out. So it is transparent when you open it in a design program.
But on the internet you always get a grey background, I gues you can change this via internet options, but I don't know how to do that.
When you save your sig as a .gif, it will also be transparent on the internet, but the edge will be ugly. :P

thats just cause old IEs can't read .png well. on any other browser, (most used firfox other and IE) it's done by leaving poortions of the sig transparent on your IMP (usually a greyscale checks type of thing as visual)

I dont know about PS.. BUt I can tell you how with PaintSHop and they may be similar.

1. Use a fill color that doesnt exist in the main body of the sig. Try to make it close to the forum color as the anti alias that smoothes the edges of your sig may cause weird bits of it to stick to the original. (When you do it a few times, you will see what I mean)

2. Find the image tab, or whatever drop down you find the word "Palette" in. Im sure that PS has options to change the palette in it.

3. Somewhere under palette you need to find "Set palette transparency".

4. Chose the color of the fill you added first.

5. It is now transparent. Save it as a .gif.

OR you could have done what I did... GOOGLE FTW! I taight myself to use PSP this way. lol
