I borrowed a friend's tablet (wacom bamboo fun) and I started drawing a mummy. Right now I am stuck with the image you see below, and I am not sure how i could improve it further.. The idea was to create some kind of fan-art-like image, but it seems that I don't posess the needed skills or tricks to make it look "pro".
If anyone has any tips for me (maybe some filter, adjustment layers, etc) then they would be very much appreciated. The bright green stuff below the mummy is some kind of toxic stuff that would give him power (his "heart" is also green but I don't know how to make it look like it's glowing).
Thanks in advance :]
Spoiler!

It looks more like an initial sketch rather than a final piece.
To make the thing glow around his chest, I'd say do a bit of a clean up - or even better, make a separate layer with just that "symbol" or mummy heart (?). Increase its saturation (separate layer), and do a few duplicates of the "symbol" you want to highlight. Color Dodge > Overlay and add a strong blur of it on a layer or two.

Yeah...the learning curve is a pain in the ass. Although if you got some extra money to burn, I'd say go for a Cintiq or a cheaper alternative would be a tablet laptop. Not sure how much the difference is though when it comes to pen sensitivity.
I will definitely practice more. It is actually a lot of fun to work with the tablet, even when you're not good at it (yet). The only problem I have with it now is that i forget about the time and end up working with it for like 3 hours straight haha.
