Wallpaper Design [Make Art.Save Art]

Post by Heosphoros »

Spoiler!

Hey guys, this is my first time ever making a wallpaper. I made it for my entry in a contest called Make Art.Save Art which is a contest promoting Art Education in schools. I just wanted to share it with you guys and perhaps get tips/advice on making better wallpapers? Also, I'm not sure if this is allowed but, here's the link to my entry. If possible could you "share" it with your facebook/twitter friends, the more "shares" I get, the more likely I am to win the contest, and by "share" I mean the button located near the bottom page of my entry.

For that particular wall -
Make the word "inspire" bold and in all caps. It would add more emphasis.

Ummmm...practice?

The idea behind it is okay. I understand that it's your first time making a wallpaper and I know how much of a pain it is to work on huge pieces like this, but the thing kinda looks half-done. The white brush spatters look a bit messy and raw - kinda like random white paint spatters. You gotta play around a bit more with those - color, blur it (to make it "glow"), etc.

The color of the background, as it is, isn't that appealing. Then again, with the right components, you could definitely change that. Kinda reminds me of default Windows Vista background.

Last one would be the text. It's where a lot of people have problems with so it's perfectly understandable. But you really need to play a bit more with it. Clipmask pictures, colors, placement, effects..there's a lot of things you can do with it.

All in all, it's an 'okay' wallpaper but you really need to practice more on smaller ones for now.

Keep it up :sohappy:

Image -> Adjustements -> Hue Variation. I think it's decent but other colors would of been better.

I think it looks fine. Could possibly look better in B&W?

the repetition of the brushes is kinda easily detectable. and I'm thinking that the jump towards orange is a bit too fast, give it more space.
also, most people kinda hate text in their wallpapers. so I'd suggest making the text either smaller or removing it completely. preferably the second for me :P
