Need Help on Technique.

Post by Key-J »

Hey Artist Corner!

Long time no see, i hope all is well.

I have a little question to ask of all your Artistically gifted individuals. I have been trying to find out what editing Techniques were used on the following photos. Even if you cant figure it out, best guess is worth it. I'm using method of elimination. To come even close to the editing technique.

Here are the photos. Thats all i can really offer: I have no other information sorry :(

And if you cant figure it out, what is the best way to get good lighting in dark environments, without over exposure?

Middle one looks like alot of 100% smudging with a chalk brush IMO.

The second one may easily be just a long exposure photograph. And in this case can be replicated with smudging with a chalk brush, but it's just not as easy.

The last two look like HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography, which is a technique used for increasing a photograph's dynamic range. It's usually done using software called Photomatix Pro (not free, $99) although there might be other methods. You can look at the user gallery for more examples. http://www.hdrsoft.com/gallery/index.php

There's a tutorial on their website for using Photomatix.

N thanks for the links on HDR. I'm going to give it a read and hopefully squeeze it into my brain to see if i can pull something off like it.

HDR is actually more commonly done in photography at different steps of EV and then with post in PS or another piece of software.

But yea, it is amazing when done correctly. It is getting kinda old though.
