Just give it a twist of your own, use a different render, colors, c4d's and such but keep the basics the same- and just fool around a bit
there are enough nice tuts out there *i should so start doing tuts again aswell >.<*

Yah, I know what you mean.. Sometimes I'm doing a tutorial and the guy says "now do this, and you will get that:"

Then I do EXACTLY what he says and I get something completely different

Focal doesn't blend to either the effects or background, looks strange. I like 10th the most, only if the effects were a bit stronger and colors more vivid.

I think this is one of your best, although I'd make the background with more vivid colors, it doesn't fit well with the lighties.

Don't waste 5 mins if it's going to turn out bad; those 5 mins were used to no purpose. Either make it good and actually improve or don't make it; don't make crap, then people say it's crap, then say "well I didn't spend time on it". Absolutely useless, might as well just type +1 post count-obtw didn't do anything to improve PS skills cause I used no effort.

ok it wasn't 5 min more about an hour or so (not including cutting the picture out) i did use some new tactics in making the whole thing. i just say i did it in 5 min because well its a girls ass and i mainly made it for laugh and giggles.

might be awhile before i even attempt a 12th anymore i'm stuck with colors its something i never was good at. i at least got somewhat far with my little to no artistic skills.

I see you try to "blend" your focal by making it monotone (a gradient map I presume?); try to refrain from that and try to use more colors and blending modes. And use masks when hiding effects (like on gradient maps) from certain areas all the time instead of an eraser.

Monotone = basically all one color.
Blending modes = changes the way pixels react to certain things - Default is 'normal'
The eraser/mask thing was just a tip for when you do want to "erase" something. Instead of actually erasing it use mask instead that way if you want to retrieve that "erased" bit you can unhide it using a mask instead of undoing.
