The fact of the matter is, I hate the top-right hand of the header.

The left side is OK!

No matter what images or textures I tried, I hate it.

It makes me sad.

However, the text up there MUST stay for google to find and gobble up.

Just make some sort of shaded box on the image so it looks like its framed and meant to be there rather than just there for google.

*ponders* Why not use position absolute and put a picture over the text or something (or does that only work with stacked media?). They have something like that at weebl-stuff.com so if you block their ads there's text underneath it. I like the banner here, personally. The one at the site you listed above (now silkroadarge.com) is lame:

The forum design is pretty drab too.

Aye, absolute will do it.

I dunno. Google has always penalized 'hidden text' for content that normal users can't see

Tho the odds of them penalizing anyone are 'slim to none' I always try to play legit.

Ultimately...

I just want a nicer, more apealing background for the top-right.

I'm still thinking about it, its just a low priority at the moment.
