vectoring shapes is simple once you know your way around the pen tool. It gets super hard when it comes to color shade especially to real life pictures.
You did a good job on this. I'd love to see the final product.

not using photoshop (though i do have it).
im using Inkscape which is much better for making vectors. it's somewhat buggy, but it's still a work in progress (opensource too i think)
Edit: just did something that may have messed it up (meaning no eyes )
If you are going to practice I think you should do as kthnxbai says and vector some still life. You might as well do a trial and error thing with those rather then vectoring an anime piece ( a cartoon) because it will teach you pick the right hues of colours rather then picking a solid colour all the way through like you're doing now.
Vector is a vector. true, but recreating an already made vector isnt all that good for practice its way too easy and doesnt require all that time or thinking when u have to trace already made one. Making something from real stuff needs thinking process, gives u ideas about the skin tones and shades, more exp.

actually, onc anime is compiled into a video format the "vectors" it's made of go down the shit hole (artifacts lol).
If your serious about this type of art, I highly suggest a pen mat. They can be expensive, but the difference is night and day. If any of you remember my vector art from god knows how long ago, I used a pen to vector over my own sketches. bluey-hui.deviantart.com <- the first 3

never had any thoughts about that
oh, btw: this is the one im working on
the colors aren't coming out how i want them (not the right shades)
-The bear or w.e it is makes it look like either she has huge mofo balls or she crapped herself -Her blush is going over her...robe?
-not much i can do about it, it's like that in the orignal picture. i think once the shirt and blanket are done it will look less like that -not finished, you won't see that when i get the shirt done
well im may not get to finish this one. it seems to have been made to complex for me computer to handle, which makes no sense with the specs my comp has (i geuss i should of gone with intel ).
