Druid help

Post by MrJoey »

Ok, I'm getting closer and closer to raid level, and from what I've seen I'm not going to want to be kitty for raids, I've never been very good at micro-management (making sure this stays up, refreshing that, keep that up too etc...).
So, I was wondering if I could get some advice about Bear form and/or boomkin. Possibly both, because I could always dualspec into both of them.

Reason I ask here, is because A. Cuch is here, and he gives straightforward advice, none of that vague shit I always see on most WoW forums.
B. Cause of the vague shit and the massive amount of crap to sort through on most WoW forums.

Bear is pretty easy. http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=0#0ZxGGscrzceRccuVkbA0z Hits all the basics. You don't need full furor since you won't really be shifting much as tank. For threat, pretty much get lacerate to 5 stack (for bosses) and keep it going. Maul every swing if you have the rage for it. Mangle on CD. If lacerate is going, mangle is on CD, then swipe for threat. That's about it. Timing of cooldowns like barkskin, trinkets and shit depends on the fight. For bears, you're gonna be stacking agility and stam. Nothing else matters. DO NOT STACK DODGE. Agility gives crit, armor and dodge, so point for point it's better for you, esp after Kings, Imp MOTW and SotF are factored in.

Boomkin I don't know too much about honestly. I'd check EJ for the theorycrafting and such.

Just took a closer look at the talent tree you posted, and Primal Precision? Isn't that a kitty druid talent?

You're attacking from the front so the boss can dodge and parry. Expertise reduces that.

Owl has a fairly straighforward rotation.

Put on improved faerie fire.
Apply insect swarm and moonfire.

And then spam wrath untill eclips, then spam starfire until eclips procs again and go back to wrath.

^then you'll probably will need to do other things like cd managment in order to do top dps, but the basics should be straightforward unlike kitty dps.

Firstly, you need to put 2 points into either Moonglow (mediocre mana talent) or Improved Moonfire (very weak DPS talent). If mana is ever a concern, go with Moonglow, otherwise, IMF. IMF becomes a good DPS talent once you have the 2T9 bonus.

This leaves 5 points. Fill them in the following order:
Intensity: put points in as necessary to alleviate any mana concerns.
Gale Winds: take this if you have any interest in speccing for AoE DPS; this is an enormous boost.
Typhoon: take this if you like having another instant spell to press, basically. Sometimes it's handy.
Improved Insect Swarm: Best remaining single-target DPS talent.
Brambles: Adds a small amount of raid DPS through Treants and Thorns.

Well, I've gone with Bear form for now, seeing as I believe it'll be less downtime while solo than boomkin. Will eventually dualspec into both of them though.
Some friends advice on solo skills were, feral faerie fire, mangle, lacerate when first 2 are on cd, and then maul when over 50 rage. I've also added some "OH SHIT!" skills with War Stomp + Bash for stun/interrupt and Demoralizing Roar for the hard hitters (Gigantuar, here I come).

From what I've seen looking at the skills, it seems like as good as any of a rotation.

For grinding mobs, cat is faster. Pounce, mangle, shred, bite. Usually close to dead. Add another mangle after the shred if needed.
