ok, so i played RoM for a while and i wanted to install WoW and compare the 2. i have tried to install this motherfucker like 10 times and i keep getting errors such as like, "folder/folder/azeroth_00_00 cannot be opened, blubbity boop blap bleep!" this happens with ever single version i try to install @ patching. if that doesnt happen, the initial install before patching just freezes up for no good reason.

can anyone advise me as to what to do to successfully install this pos? i have used the downloader, i have manually downloaded the patches myself...
im just totally at my wits end.

Download the WotLK ISO
Install it (saves downloading all the patches up to 3.0.1)
Patch up

What's with the manual patching lol? And post the actual error or google it, you can actually find the solution.

"The file '\base\world\maps\_______\_______XX__YY.adt could not be open. If this problem persists you may need to uninstall and reinstall the game"

that error.


i have allowed it to auto patch, and i have attempted manual patching. can you link me to the iso possibly?

Naw, I have the disc itself, don't need an ISO. Just Google it, it won't be hard to find =P

well i cant find a decent dl rate for the iso anywere, i guess ill just stick to runes of magic.

yeah i dl'd WOTLK torrent, got it downloaded, tried instal and same issues. I contacted tech support and they are telling me to upgrade my vid card driver (cause that’s involved in installing software) and to upgrade my mainbord driver. Im gonna look into it.

Are you downloading the official trial version from the official wow site? If not, do so.

why would i want the trial?? i signed into the site, went into account management and selected client download. i then attempt to install the full client. i have never ever in my entire life experienced installation problems like this ever.

because the trial is a smaller file, and would likely cause you less problems. downloading ginormous game files all at once never works. the matrix has glitches. <nods>

just try the trial download, and patch from there.

its not the base install i have major problems with, its the patches. as i patche i get an error telling me that it cant open X map file. so it would be exactly the same (i imagine.)

I have this problem too.

I put the disk in the drive, copy and paste the install files to desktop (for all disks), then run the installer from desktop.

Do you own all the disks? Or are you trying to install the full game without a paid account? Do the trial version and patch from there unless you have all the disks.

... i have a frozen account, from whence i am able to login to Wow website. i scroll down, and i can download the installer for the game. i dont have the disks. i DID download the WOTLK disk and tried with the same result (this is in essence what DOM suggested.) you dont have to have a paid account or the disks to install the game, but it must be upgraded in order access the BC and WOTLK features.

No idea then. I downloaded the trial, auto patched, bought the disks, activated my account and never had any issues.

Well, I cant get it to install past 3.09 patch. So im just gonna play on a private server. Ive done everything I can imagine, and it just wont install. This thread may be locked if a mod would care to be troubled.

I had the same problem and so did someone else. You have to manual patch it.
