Thought id join the bandwaggon

besides need some help.

iv always been lock fav class and i like it but seems the higher level i get the weaker im getting even with twink gears on when grinding i cant kill some players. so anyone got any tips on playing style, been lock yeh i use fear dots and drain life and i do it properly if i can say that.

What i wanted to know is pvp wise what else could i be doing?

im afflic spec with 171+ spell power @ level 50+

pve im pretty good at but instances my dps is insanly low for the possible damage i could do, dots dont seem to cut it and spamming shadow bolt is too slow and mage will always out dps me

hm...don't worry about ur dps right now. just worry about getting to 80.

when u do hit 80 and still find ur dps lacking, read up some guides on lock dps, respec, find the right rotation.

for pvp, it's natural that there will always be some classes that you can't kill. wow isn't like a fps. gear and class plays a pivotal role in who wins and who loses.

Hmm i think your stats are going to be WAY too low because of your insane amount of spelldamage, as it doesn't come on gear at all at lvl 50 :)

You should be able to kill stuff quite bloody fast though... :)

Hmm sounds weird tbh :)

I mean, with that amount of spelldamage, which replaces stats gear, you should have like what.. 3k health? not sure but you should really have sticked to stats they outdo damage in the long run at lower levels :D

pure stam/int ftw.

when you hit outlands every piece of gear has stats AND spelldamage on it :D

Affliction is heavily dependent on gear. On an insane level. At your level, Affliction is best for leveling and a hindrance in PVP.

If you want the survivability in PVP, and the punch to take down a target, go Demo/Destro. Demo to at least Soul Link and Demonic Aegis and then pack all your points, smartly, into Destro.

As for being out-DPS'd as Afflic, it happens unless your gear is perfect. If switching builds isn't an option, what glyphs are you using and what build are you running? #'s would help.

I wouldn't worry about a thing when levelling, especially not damage and that stuff. All that matters is 80 anyways.
Go affliction till 71 then respec Felguard/Siphon Life. I reckon Felguard/siphon life is the best levelling build for Warlocks in Northrend.
I strongly advise to go to Outlands @ 58 and Northand @ 68. XP Doubles per continent. With your spell damage you should be more than fine.

When I played warlock I used to take 3-5 targets a time, depending on my gear. I'd use void to pick up some of the early mobs to prevent them going at me. Manually use group taunt and then instant howl of terror em all. Siphon life x3 + Drain life should make up for the damage.
Don't worry if you can't do more mobs at a time, it's better to live than to try hard and die all the time. More often than not I took less mobs than I could handle. I also used drain mobs, just let the void tank it and only siphon life + drain life on it to regen full health.

im doing 4 mobs at a time i tend to dot them all 1 by 1 by the time iv got to the 3/4 one the first is dead leaving little to nothing for me to do with the others

When I was Afflic spec I had CoA & Siphon Life for major when I was around 50-60'ish. And now that CoA glyph has been fixed so the damage keeps laddering during the extended 4secs, it's a must. IMHO.

If you play affliction (like I do), read http://elitistjerks.com/f80/t37900-dots ... ck_thread/
It contains just about everything you need to know.

Check out the warlock den. It's a great source of information, and is made up of, guess what, Warlocks. Pretty much every member is a warlock and most are 80, so they know what they're talking about.

You can get guides on how to spec ect, plus much more.

Check it out: http://wowmb.net/

Prolly will continue my lvl 40 Gnome lock. Are locks funz now? Since mages are getting nerfed again, and everybody thinks so except blizzard. Even the math proves it.

Almost all DPS is being nerfed so Ulduar equipment doesn't make people spiral out of control. I'm sure that in the end things will balance out. Play something you enjoy, not because it's the highest DPS.

I'm not sure if you know the entire history when it comes to blizzard and mages, we're being farked. Again. Math proves it. (The math for other classes is also available.)

Funny, I read the exact same thing on every other DPS class forum. :) Everybody's always screaming they're being singled out by Blizzard for total nerfing, so I've started to be a bit patient before making up my mind. So far, the numbers coming from the PTR aren't too unbalanced, and they're still working on it. There's plenty of time to complain if after everything's said and done things are still unbalanced.

So basically, you don't know the exact numbers, and are comparing me with a bunch of knobheads on he forums. Thanks. :/

You're welcome. :)

I do know the exact numbers. I have seen them change over the past few weeks, and I'm sure they'll change more before 3.1 is introduced. I've also seen the same QQ in every class forum over the past weeks, combined with threats of rerolling and/or quitting. Just be patient; Blizzard is not Joymax. I've already seen several improvements on PTR over the past weeks, and I'm sure we'll see more.

Also: I don't know if you've ever tried playing a warlock, but affliction is no picnic. We have to work quite hard to get any kind of reasonable DPS, and since it takes a while before our DPS starts kicking in, we usually suck at running heroics compared to mages. The only places we excel are static fights like Patch.

Blizzard should not be Joymax, but with sunwell in mind, they came close.

Right now, we're getting nerfed about 3/4% more then other dps (damage wise).

Hoping for a change, but not counting on it.

oh plz...your main DPS you'll be fine....right now ALL DPS is getting a nerf so that they don't blow up Ulduar...at the end of the day locks and mages will still top charts do don;t even think about QQing....

If your referring to the 5% mutual scorch nerf, then yes. Yet blizzard fails to realise that's not just a 5% nerf for mages, especially those that are fire, which relies heavily on crit. Math shows that it's about an 7-8% nerf for mages.

Same goes for their petty attempts to make spirit viable, it still isn't.

thats boring i got a 52 lock with fel guard aswell on another server man was he boring

and 20ish to 50 locks are fun 50-60 seems really slow to me but thats on classic mobs, get to outlands its so much faster and better locks are up and down it seems going along but my dps is hitting its upper limits for my level with 600 sp without buffs
