No you won't have too, I upgraded from Vista to Win7 with all my Software & Games, including WoW.(Only AutoCAD 2006 didn't want to work). If you upgrade you don;t have to reformat.

You have to do a fresh install if you're going from XP to Windows 7
I'm in your posts, stealing your quotes.

No you don't. Backed my client up on my external when upgrading to 7 from XP, and it works perfectly fine. =P

:palm:
That's like putting a file that was saved on XP on a USB drive, then inserting it in a Windows 7 PC and go: "HEY IT STILL WORKS!!?!"

And was posted due to my misreading the quote. Seeing what was quoted was in relation to WoW installation, but what I quoted was in regards to OS installation, so it's a mixed bag of signals.

Plus, it doesn't always work like that BTW. Some programs will require registry settings only done via installing on the PC.

Not to hijack the original thread, but WoW was designed so that all you had to do is backup your WoW folder and then copy that folder to a new OS or Computer and it will run with all your settings as normal. I've done it several times.

As for the OP, stick with the pally, it was my first toon as well and is still my main, Pally's are good to have a s first toon, because you don't die much you can solo some quests that aren't meant to be solo'd and when you get to the end game you can fill all 3 roles, tank, dps, or healer if you change your mind on what you want to play.

Mining is a good profession as well to have starting, since it's your first toon, the ore or bars is great way to make money by selling them on the Auction House.
