Server Upgrade - SRF Moving
Taken from our main site.
-------------------------------------------------
We are going to move to a bigger and better server within the next 30 days. We are going to try and make the move as seamless as possible and if everything goes right you guys should not even notice it. However, things do not always go right so I just wanted to let everyone know what is going on.
Some people might have noticed the site slowing down or getting an error message - this is because our current host sucks and so does the server they gave us. This move to the new server should remove all slowdowns and we should be good to go for a good while. We will post a forum wide announcement prior to the move as well.
We are going from a 2.0 Gig Celeron to a 2.4 Gig Quad Core Xeon, getting another gig of ram, hard drive mirroring and Network Attached Storage for Backups. We are also going to have a clean install and config of all the web server software so we do not have to deal with incompetent hosts setting things up. Literally this new server obliterates the current one in every way.

I will purge no posts.
Might lose a few in transition depending on what time the the database is moved, and what time people posted.
I will purge some screenshots
Do realize the massive amount of files and space used for that script.
Downtime
There may be some downtime as the domain configuration changes take place. Typically that takes 48 ours for it to circulate to the nameservers around the world, but usually its much sooner.

Goooood job!
Very well done!
I'm new to this forum and I'm very fond of it.
Good information, good organization and kewl people posting interesting things.
Then, I have an advice for you: Please keep in mind that there's allways bad intentioned people who likes to hack and take down good services.
I remember that the Brasnet Irc Service (which I enjoyed much some time ago) has ended this very year because no host could block its attacks.
So My tip is: keep the Firewall Series MAXed.

I wish you the best of luck, but never forget MURPHY'S LAW!!!! I deal with server flips on a daily basis. They are either smooth and silky, or they can be as fun as a prison assraping. I am still having probs with a client I upgraded a month ago because the bastards were too cheap to lay new cat-5 for their network!!!
