its the same conpany that do a copy and paste in bot ban lists guys.
tomorrow after the inspecion the lag will be the same or worse than now
I dont beleve in them anymore. I quit playing untill botters are no problem anymore. But i see some changes, more GM's online, and this is one of them. And yhe Joymax suck though.

Lag for me also client side mostly....i play on two different systems
The faster process, more ram, higher bandwidth and a 7900GS one plays much more lag free....as in most game that I have played FPS is a great producer of lag so in DW or Hotan if you turn the corner in town and all the stalls come into view it virtually freezes for a second or two....that is because your frame rates went way down.....get a better vid card, more ram and a faster processor.
I have experienced lag out in mob areas and have frozen for a second to then find myself on top of a mob already fighting.....i think this lag may be the lag that JM would be able to improve with better server side equipment because it happens with whatever computer i am on....and it definately shouldn't be FPS(frames per second) related since most times I am in a non-detailed area with very few mobs or players to cause a problem. I would say this type of lag happens to me once or twice in a 4 hour grind period. The other FPS in town lag is pretty much all the time if I am not on the better vid card machine.......you can also turn down your settings to help increase your FPS.

So many uneducated people float these forums.
I don't know about the whole Joymax issue, but the fact of the matter lies in two issues:
Lag is a mixture of latency and response time. You can have a super fast response time (10-30ms), but still get latency issues, which are caused by packets getting jumbled or lost. Wireless internet/routers have these problems (think about throwing 3 million golf balls into the air, and catching as many as you can in a trash bag, yeah, alot are getting lost).
The integrity of the connection is disrupted in both instances, so to improve lag would insinuate a much higher fidelity line and/or server, or increased speeds in the lines they currently use. However, because their servers are co-located half way around the world, latency will still be an issue. Players becoming stuck is a latency issue, whereas pressing a skill, and waiting 1-2 seconds for it to react is a response time issue. Latency will always be an issue, untill they stop co-locating their servers, and use dedicated servers closer to the player base.
Also, about upgrading the video card -- this does not cause lag. The CPU causes lag, because whatever your machine lacks, the CPU will handle the brunt of it. Thus, if you have a dedicated NIC PCI card like the 'Killer NIC' that has a mini-CPU for handling packets and networking issues, you are essentially freeing up CPU processor threads, improving FPS, but your response time, and latency, will not substantially improve. Likewise for a GPU, it has no effect in this issue.
I'm sorry so many of you dislike JoyMax, though I, for one, am becoming fed up with the random crashes. Their company actually has a pretty good standing, but SilkRoad is still not even released on the whole yet. Give it time.

There are so many variables that can cause lag. You can lag because of your computer, your router (if you have one), your cable/dsl/fiber modem, your ISP (which could include any number of servers/routers/switches, all of the networking equipment that sits between your ISP and Joymax's servers, or Joymax's servers themselves. If Joymax is lagging, then likely EVERYONE in the game would be lagging at the same time. That is rarely the case.
Sure, Joymax can upgrade their systems to handle more of a load, but there are still other factors to consider, which are out of JM's hands.

Again, you're thinking too far into this. Run a traceroute on yahoo.com and measure the hops. If all your hops are 23-27ms, you will average 23-27ms, because the information is not one-way. ISP's provide specified speeds for internet access, so your WAN is not responsible for lag, unless you have a slower service, this, however, is not lag, but Response Time. LAN should not induce lag whatsoever, even in Wireless routers/gateways, only latency, and latency only affects the packets, so it is not a speed issue. Also, JoyMax does not own the servers, but co-locates them, like renting a room or an apartment.
A colocation centre ("colo") or carrier hotel is a type of data center where [a] multiple telecommunications or network service providers locate their connections adjacent at the physical layer to each other's networks (points of presence) and [b] users of these services locate network, server and storage gear and interconnect to network service provider(s) with a minimum of cost and complexity.
I do agree it is out of JoyMax's hands, but lag is such an ambiguous term, I am tired of it being thrown around as an explanation to everything.

Sorry, wanted to include this:
Thanks Wikipedia, I couldn't have said it better.
Lag is a common term used to describe a symptom often encountered in computing and especially networked systems, where results of actions appear much later than expected. While different kinds of latency are well defined technical terms, lag is not, and should be used to describe the symptom, not the cause.

True statement ...lag/latency is not vid card related.....but I guess I mention this because perceived lag could in fact at times be dropped frames where you appear in the same spot even though you should be moving ahead and all of a sudden you are ahead at that further spot. Frame rates have dropped which may make some people think that they have just experienced lag.....not possitive on everyone's rig but you here a lot of "man it is so laggy in town"......lot of stuff being drawn by your video card in town and a lot of movement so could this "town lag" be in fact frame rates going down to 10?
Thanks for the correct Fracture

True but more people = more connection lag. So much people + bad videocart + slow connection speed = much client lag.
But the most people have a nice connection speed at this time. So it must be the video driver / video card it self that causes the most "lag / fps drop". The server itself has also FPS. I know from HL servers that they need at least 500 FPS to run a server smoothly. Else the server causes lag that has nothing to do with the connection speed. Running 3000 clients on a server has to be a huge load for the server. I want to know how they did this. Prob with server load ballance, so that means that there are more psychal servers for one "server" (like SPARTA, or GREECE). Alsow the standard ping to Korea is a little bit high. They should plent there servers somewhere else (Amsterdam ore something) to eliminate the high pings.

That's what I was saying. There are so many things that can cause the "effect of lag." Lag can occur because of things like latency or bad response times or dropped packets. There are various reasons these things could happen including packets being dropped at any hop between you and the host you are connecting to for example. If your client doesn't get all the packets it's expecting, or they come in a different order, the client has to wait a bit for them to be resent/reassembled before it processes them and shows the results (your character ran 10 meters) on the screen.
My point was just because your game is lagging doesn't mean it's Joymax's fault. A lot of people are so quick to blame Joymax for everything under the sun, but lag shouldn't (always) be one of them.
