They changed it now. So yea, no more botting.
Hello. This is Silkroad Online.
All servers will be undergoing extra server inspection regarding the massive bot punishment.
Abnormal client (ex: Hacking client with unnatural data) is not accessable after the inspection and will be punished strongly if one tries to access with such a client.
Please re-setup the normal client whoever uses the abnormal client and you must stop using illegal program right away such as bot program.
Thank you.

well, good job Joymax. . . .
finally i can farm SP without being ksed by those bots!! This is the best news for me from Joymax. But I guess the botters will to look for another way to get the new bots into the game in a very short time. . . . But atleast, joymax do something about it!! which impressed me!!

What if they just dont use bots for say 2 weeks, and then start again? or what if after a bunch of people get banned, people bot again.
In my opinion, however much I wish bots don't come again, unless JoyMax does these things periodically, and by that I don't mean every month but one day a week, the bot problem will not be solved.

does anyone else see anything wrong with jm telling us not to bot "right away?"
Don't worry, I'm betting it's a mistake in translation. What they're telling you is to "stop using a bot right away. Don't wait a while before you turn it off."

makes me wonder again if joymax has any conenctions with isrobot
why:
1 isrobot uses normal client
2 there have been many many hacks to isrobot to make it free of usage but usually had to use modified clients
3 the clientless bot from "probably" same makers has been free for a while due to those cracked clients
4 why create premium tickets before all these "free" isrobots?
just wondering cause i was happy with my premium and now feeling backstabbed (again) by joymax

Patch 7/20/2007
"Hello. This is Silkroad Online.
A patch regarding [ Bot & Hacked Client Block ] has been applied in order to create a clean gaming environment.
As this patch has been applied to wipe out bot programs and hacked clients, legitimate users using normal clients will not experience any problems logging on to the game. However, users that use abnormal or hacked clients & bot programs may only log on to the game by installing an unaltered normal client that has been newly downloaded.
After the application of this patch, we will wipe out any bot & hacked client users."
This is to good to be true...

Look at the language. You guys are seriously reading too much into this. Botters that use isro will still be able to play. There will still be botters, no doubt about it. Get used to it. It's like steroids in baseball and football. They are there...they aren't going away. It's a fact of life these days....joymax (IMO) is in cohoots with bot369.com - also, if you are botting and always buying silk as well, they have no reason - financially - to ban you...with a history of buying silk, that would be a lost customer.

I shop at Walmart every week to do grocery shopping and buy other things. So I'm a regular paying customer. So let's say every time I go to walmart, I see another customer approaching an item they want to buy. So I run faster than them, grab that item, and run away. Do this for every customer I see throughout the store preventing them from shopping efficiently. I horde up all these "sweet" items so no other customer can buy them. Perhaps I'll even set up a shop to sell these items at ridiculously high prices. I can even run around the populated areas of Walmart screaming at the top of my lungs telling customers to visit http://www.prometheuswalmart.com to buy all these goods or whatever.
Does Walmart have any reason, financially, to ban me? I'm still paying walmart for goods I buy, but I'm preventing others from paying. In SRO, legits might want to pay for silk, but refuse to because of the bot problem.

No, Walmart does not have a reason to ban you. Understand, it's about money. If you were ACTUALLY able to buy EVERYTHING others were going to buy before they could buy it, they'd still be making the same amount of money. Your analogy is off. What you are describing is what Wal-Mart does to small-town, locally-owned businesses
Anyways, I understand your frustration. I just think that, typically people who PAY for bots will have enough money to PAY for silk. Thus, joymax can make double the money (btw, I'm convinced they're linked to bot369 who makes isro). So, for joymax, they can have it both ways. They make money from those legits that want to buy silk (in fact, they encourage buying silk by giving logon advantage to premium ticket holders) and if they are in financial ties with the makers of isro, then they can get a cut of that as well. They can say "we are banning bots" and ban all those who use the free, and usually hacker, bots so people go "Yippeee! finally!" but those who use isro are fine.
In your analogy, if Wal-Mart were tied to a company that sold to you the special power to allow you to buy faster than other customers sometimes, they wouldn't stop that, would they? They'd make money from legit shoppers, as well as those buying their stuff with the "special power" AND they get a cut from the fee those "special powers" customer are charged. makes financial sense to me....I mean, afterall SRO is a "free" online game right?

That has to be the worst analogy I have ever seen. Being a walmart customer and botting in silkroad aren't even close to the same thing. Botters aren't reselling silk items, either. They are reselling GOLD. People need to break out of this "omgz all the mobz near me are all minez!!! GTFO!!!1" mentality. If you see a bot near you, just move, thats what I do, and this doesn't stress me out in the least.
Joymax has zero incentive to ban bots, other than people's complaints. But guess what? Joymax is in Korea, not the US, so they don't really care how much we complain. This isn't warcraft, and Joymax isn't Blizzard, i.e., they don't have the capital to completely wipe out botting like Blizzard does.
Hell, they can't even use proper english, wtf makes you think they will wipe out botting?

LMFAO
Can't speak english hahahaha
Anyways, my whole point is this: bots aren't going to be totally eliminated. They may reduce in numbers, sure. But the idea that all bots will be gone is like saying a new immigration bill will get rid of "illegal" immigrants in the US. We all know that isn't going to happen. The difference here, with me personally, is I don't really want to get rid of all the illegal immigrants

Yeah maybe it was a bad analogy. As for moving if you see a bot.... Well if there are so many bots around in a grind area, it's pretty hard to just move to another location. The bots are everywhere. There's been several times I was at the mujigis trying to grind and I might be able to kill 1 out of 10 that I see (If I'm not KSed) because the other 9 are taken by botters... well often times 3-5 botters that are KSing each other. So moving to a new spot doesn't do much good.
I don't have that "omgz all the mobz near me are minez!!!!" mentality. Sure I'll attack as many as I can handle if I'm alone, but if there are other legits, I'll let some mobs go. However, I do have a problem KSing, especially if I can't even ask them to stop, or if they are in my guild or union.

KSing is the biggest problem I have with botters. I really don't care if people bot. But if they are going to, they shouldn't KS. I know these programs, especially isrobot, have the ability to NOT KS other people. So, FFS, just check that box botters! geesh! But, in any event, botters aren't going away.
btw, I just farted and it smells AWFUL!

what exactly is the definition of right away? an hour, 24 hours, a week, WHAT? i must say though, it was very nice to see green and yellow on the server choice screen last night. looks like its time to get as much grinding in while we can before this "RIGHT AWAY" window comes to a crashing halt!

Some may disagree with me, but as I said before, I think it's a mistranslation on Joymax's part. I think they mean "do not use an abnormal client right away" as in "stop using an abnormal client right away." Come to think of it, that would make sense if, say, there is no present progressive tense (e.g., the word using) in Korean. That would mean you'd have to say "do not use..." instead of "stop using..." *shrugs*
