Greetings Silkroadians! :]

A while ago I decided I would, one day, start a fun little contest of some sort here. I love Silkroad, and I love this place and the people I've met so far. So I want to give something back to a community that has given me a lot of entertainment and fun over the last few months.

The idea I had was much different to what I'm presenting to you today- so don't be suprised if another competition crops up in the future.

However, I recently aquired a video-recording program called Fraps, and a whole new world of possibilities opened up.

Thus, this is a Place-Your-Bets type competition, the aim of which will be to correctly guess who will win in a PvP duel between me and Demarthl.

The video has already been made, and rest assured there were no witnesses to the duel and the video has not been shown to anybody. With that in mind, you may place your bet by sending a PM to me on this forum, with the subject line containing "PvP Contest" or similar so I can easily pick them out and count the bets.

The first 20 people to correctly guess the winner will receive 50,000 gold straight from my warehouse. :] Winners will be notified along with everyone else when the competition comes to a close and the video is posted publically for all to see.

So, let's once again briefly go over the main points:

* Bet on who you think will WIN the duel- Moogie or Demarthl.
* Submit your bet as a PM to me with the subject line containing "PvP Contest" or similar.
* First 20 people to submit a correct guess are WINNERS.
* Nobody will know the correct answer untill the video is posted and you see it for yourselves!
* Contest will end in 7 days time and the winners will be announced when the video is posted for everyone to view.

Yup, it's open for 7 days. That means this contest will officially close on the 24th of February sometime in mid-afternoon GMT time. Hey, it's not going to be exact.

Conditions for being a winner:

* Must submit ONE bet ONLY
* Anyone submitting multiple bets from the same username (or from different usernames under the same person's control) cannot win a prize.
* Bets must be received by the time the competition closes.
* Only the first 20 people will win the prize of 50,000 gold each. Correct bets received after this number has been reached are unfortunately out of luck. Sorry! :]

Well, I think that's just about it.

And yes, 20x50000 = 1 million gold. I'll be giving away one mil gold in total, shared between 20 lucky people.

Oh, and one more thing. If there's less than 20 winners, any remaining money out of the 1mil will go to our good friend Phunky. He already has 1mil of my gold, but I'm sure he won't mind getting more.

it is a good idear but y dont u do it so that ppl from other server can enter to.

My idea is to make this competition a bit like the lottery the ppl that enter have to give in a specific amount of gold whatever that server may be (so char in the other servers are required to be made). Instead of having multiple winners make it so u can have one or max 3 winners. u can do this by say predict in how many hits the winner will kill the loser.
with this u can minimise the winners.
Now the winner will get all the pot of gold tha whas collected on each server

just an idear maby it will work so other server besides xian can enter

That's a good idea there, but I'm afraid I'd have no way of awarding money to players on other servers, as I have no other characters and I wouldn't dream of asking other people to pay up prize money for me.

So, yeah... Xian only folks.

well the lottery thing we used to do it on eve on line and it worked briliantly we made ppl milionares with it but whatever pleases u its ur competition

nice to see something like this starting tho im many other mmos this is happening and makes many ppl happy

i had the interesting opportunity to escort these two fine people on a 2-star run from jangan to hotan last night (which was, for the most part, successful), so i have a unique perspective on how each fights, their strengths and weaknesses. hell, i watched them beat the ..... out of thigns for the better part of 3 hours ;)

i feel pretty confident in my bet.

Still can't get fraps to work, I press the hotkeys and it just does nothing lol

The video recording was so smooth that the only indication I had that anything was happening was the FPS counter turned red.

The program opens, it says F9 to record I press it and nothing happens. Does it only work for games, I tried it on the desktop.

It only works in a game. As far as I've experienced, Fraps needs to be loaded first, and then you run whichever game you wish to record in. It doesn't record the desktop, unfortunately.

Demarthl - heuksal (spear) lighning and ice, level 40 int hybrid

we have the same skills, or equivalents of it in our lightning and ice tabs, we do everything together and are equal in everyway except one.

It was an anything-goes duel. HP/MP pots, Pills, full armour and all-out attacks.
