Block Regarding Users Impersonating GMs

Date : 4/19/2007

Hello. This is Silkroad Online.

Recently there were users who made character IDs with special characters such as [GM] in it, which is not normally allowed, through client hacking. We have managed to block these users permanently.

Users may be severely punished if they misuse the system or impersonate GMs, so please be careful.

This shows that

1. They can act fast
2. They have a big problem with botters. And they are trying all kind of ant-bot things but none of it works.
Or
3. They have a anti-bot system but they are still working on it.

Anti GM immatation in a week, Anti BOT ina 2 year?

exactly. They are just the actual account names. Listing all the fake GM character names would take way too long im sure. Also these accounts have dumb names and sound fake. But what would the point be of making a normal account name? you wouldnt do this on your account, figuring you will be banned at some point. So throw together a quick bs one.

Why would they post the account names. That seems kind of bland for someone to do, since we are unable to see them ourselves. I would think that it would be better if they were to show character names, no matter how long it took to type them all out, that way we could actually believe they are doing what they said they are.

to tell you the truth a guy from daigold.com.. made one of this [GM] but the real [GM]IceMilk and [GM]Pritzel started playing around with him before block ^^..

They started teleporting him back to the same place he started walking like 7 times in a row...

Then [GM]IceMilk talked with him this is all he said.

[GM]IceMilk : Hi.This is GM Ice Milk.

Most likely an SQL query on the character name database. Something like this:

Code: Select all

SELECT * FROM Users WHERE Character LIKE '%[%'

will find all instances of character's names that contain the left bracket.

Trivial to detect.

do they just ban the account? or do they ban the IP address? i mean its not that hard to make another account (just saying) but if IP is banned they can never play this game again....
Also i noticed there is a huge number or botters and most of the ones i see ahve random names like gsfgfs or something like that...they should be easy to spot and should be banned also...

one of the worst comparisons ever.......

blocking something like fake GMs is alot easier then it is to stop someone from using something as sophisticated as a bot

and these are probably the main accs and ppl were stupid enuff to make secondary accs which had the fake GM's.

making a patch for a program that can easily change form is alot harder to make then running a search for the word GM in ur name database..

They don't ban by IP only you're character ID, i was [GM] ****** on Athens but then Gargamel ended up kicking me from the server a few times till he ended up banning me after i keept coming back over and over.. I got it all on Fraps so i might edit it soon and throw it on youtube later on, Was good fun ;P

Your account has currently been blocked from the game and from posting any messages on the homepage.

you know as interesting as the ip blocking thing sounds, it wouldnt work. Theres a simple mistake with your thinking, you can change it every single time you feel like it.

You can only edit your ip a certain ammount of times. You cannot edit it indefinatly. Hence a thing called IP-RANGE banning, apparently you are yet another person on SRF who thinks they know shit. :roll:

pretty much everything said here is true, apart from the getting disconnected after convo with a GM, I've heard rumours that some gms aren't always [GM]Crayon or something, some are inconspicous,

some dude I talked to was called Joymax, and he seemed to talk the talk, and also seemed convicing when he was saying that he wasn't meant to discuss his job with the players, he also told me when I first spoke to him that he wasn't givin SOSUN, which is obvious and ur a turd if you expect that stuff from GM's, its not like they can spawn anything at any time can they? the game has limitations, like theres only 2000000000 gold on a server at one time or something, gold can't be just created, same with items, otherwise things would get too cheap.

anyways, some of ts stuff im just guessing but other stuff im sure of,
