need help to estimate this. 800k??

I had +4 my SOS Staff (it went from +2 to +4 with no failure) at the very early stage b4 i heard about these unwanted effects. Now i m sweating, i was very poor at that time and cant afford to lost that Staff. Luckily i stop at +4 due to no cash and elixir. Then +4 is should be for my SOSes. xD. til...

so am i right to say than i m safe from the effect 1 and 2, as long as i dont try to +5 the item.

or did it start when trying to +4?
