Let's say you get to max level with no gap the entire time. Do you stop getting sp and do you therefore end up with less total sp than someone who had a gap the entire time leveling up? A gap gives you more sxp, which gives more sp, which allows you to level your skills. It also gives you less xp, which makes it harder to level with a gap. Okay, so what's a good gap to have?
